Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, The Monuments Men is an action drama focusing on an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners.

It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines, and with the German army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell, how could these guys - seven museum directors, curators, and art historians, all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M-1 - possibly hope to succeed? But as the Monuments Men, as they were called, found themselves in a race against time to avoid the destruction of 1000 years of culture, they would risk their lives to protect and defend mankind's greatest achievements.

From director George Clooney, the film stars George Clooney, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, Hugh Bonneville, and Cate Blanchett. The screenplay is by George Clooney & Grant Heslov, based on the book by Robert M. Edsel with Bret Witter. Produced by Grant Heslov and George Clooney.

The film focuses on an Allied squad comprising seven museum directors, curators, and art historians. They are tasked with entering Germany with the Allied forces during the closing stages of World War II to rescue artworks plundered by the Nazis, saving them from destruction or damage, and returning them to their rightful owners.

George Clooney's The Monuments Men is less Schindler's List and all the more Kelly's Heroes. This is a romping and very nearly honest tackle World War II that is securely without amazing viciousness or disaster, centering rather on the gee-star brotherhood of fighters who appear to be on a warm Boy Scout excursion than amidst a real war. I assume in a kind that is regularly stacked down with fierceness, a tad of certified Hollywood schmaltz can maybe be a welcome change of pace, furnished you're not making a bit of trash like The Book Thief.

Ghent, Belgium. In spite of the challenges of the defensive ministry, an aggregation of Nazis is at present taking the truly profitable Ghent Altarpiece. Twelve painted boards with a worth to Christians that can't be measured in cash. Sadly, all over Europe, wherever the Nazis have picked up a solid footing, this story is rehashed thousands and many times. From extensive displays to the accumulations from the private division, Hitler has declared that all important symbolization be reallocated. His arrangement is to open a storehouse in the place where he grew up where he can show these things. Enter Frank Stokes (Clooney), a craft student of history who has constrained President Roosevelt into permitting him to structure a band of likeminded men in the trusts of sparing history. "We have to know whether the Statue of David is as of now standing… if the Mona Lisa is as of now grinning."

The group is made up of unmistakable paradigms who – while played by striking and quite great comic performers like John Goodman, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, Bob Balaban, Jean Dujardin, Hugh Bonneville, and Bob Balaban – never truly transcend their platitudes. They move as a single adaptable cell like unit, bantering daintily, more breathtakingly practical as a group than as fascinating unique characters. Clooney is nothing if not approachable, both as an entertainer and as an executive, and man, wow, man is this ever an amicable film. It has what such a large number of movies strive for and regularly fail to offer: a general feeling of pleasantness. You know those old WWII films where warriors group in foxholes, kidding with one another to break the pressure? Envision an entire film of that.

Credit Clooney, the chief for encompassing Clooney, the performer, with a top rate throws. Every performing artist is a flawless supplement to the others, with nobody dominating the other. Damon is strong, as are whatever remains of the performers. When I needed to single out an aggregation it might be the three researchers. All have done mind boggling supporting work in the past and they proceed with that characteristic here. They know why they've been picked and they recognize what is at stake. Each of the three carry a touch of authenticity to the minutes delineated, with Murray making himself an unanticipated name to think about for one year from now's Oscars. Actually the film is well made, with extraordinary love and tender loving care while author Alexandre Desplat's score sets the ideal perfect mood.
