i've heard lots of stories of pregnant woman craving foods they hate. my friend always had intense cravings for cheese with peanut butter on it. EW, i know....unles i just gave you something else to crave. hee hee. rant: i'm going to have to call my bank tomorrow and find out WTF is going on. rave: made meatballs for supper tonight...Ohhhh boy were they good! ETA: to continue some discussion from the former R&R thread...... yay!! LLK, nice work on losing 5 pounds! but i have to say, if you're going to be hungry all the time, i dont think its worth it. it might get to the point where you're fed up and then you go on a giant binge. i'm not trying to duscourage you, on the contrary. i support you all the way on this, i just want you to make sure you're on the right diet for YOU. and remember, fruit is your friend and celery has negative calories. I <3 you! ------------------ [This message has been edited by helenbooktrip (edited 01-10-2008).] IP: Logged |

I've been trying very very hard and the being hungry thing hasn't been nearly as bad today. I'm eating things like fruit and non-buttered popcorn as snacks. Nothing but water to drink. So... it's slow going... but maybe by the time you come visit, Helen, I'll be thin and sexy and we can go out and cruise the town for sexy men folk! Minxy... I've heard of some ucky cravings. I haven't drank chocolate milk since I was 4... so I'm cringing more than you would know with that one. What other odd cravings have you had? If any? And uh... when do we(you) find out if it's a boy or a girl. Should be soon right? ------------------ IP: Logged |

yes, i will have to start excersing more too and cutting back on my snacking, that way when we cruise for hot men folk, it will not be fruitless. although i dont wanna be a stick, i just want to be healthy. i can admit right now, i am not so healthy and definitly need to work on it. i have a great uncle who kinda got shocked into a healthy lifestyle when he got mnemonia (sp?). after that he only changed a few simple things and now he's healthier then ever. he still has a big breakfast and supper everyday, but he switched his lunch to only having fruit and veggies. so instead of getting something from the nearest McD's (as so many of us do when on lunch break from work), he got a fruit salad or the like. that and he just went for a 30 minute walk everyday. they say thats all you need, it 30 minutes. and a brisk walk is a as good as anything. after all that, i think i need to start practicing what i preach. LLK, we should do this thing together! ------------------ IP: Logged |

So far most of my cravings have been for just certain types of foods... like mexican has been a big one. Or just wanting beef. Applesauce. Me likey applesauce! Next Thursday (the 17th) I have my next ultrasound. Providing zombie spawn cooperates with us (and baby has so far) we'll be able to find out then. Don't worry I'll be telling the whole world LLK: do you tend to eat a couple bigger meals aday, or do you eat more smaller meals? Really, feeling hungry while dieting, especially in the beginning, isn't a good thing I think. You have to have energy in order to be able burn calories and therefore loss weight. And the eating the smaller meals (5-6 a day) will stimulate your metabolism and help kickstart weight lose. When I first got pregnant I changed my eating habits like that and for the first 4.5 months of being pregnant I lost about 5-10 lbs. (which was ok with my doctor, but I wasn't trying and I was actually a lot LESS active than before.) Hugs to you girlie! ------------------ IP: Logged |

I'm getting better at the small meals often thing. I used to only eat one meal a day. See, I never used to get hungry much. So, I never ate. I always figured chubby kids shouldn't eat when they're not hungry. Now, I'm thinking, all the books tell me the best way to lose weight is to eat, but healthily. So... I'm doing that. As for the hunger thing. I think I'd de-toxing from all of the soda! I used to drink a lot. Quitting cold turkey... sucks. Yay! I can't wait to hear about the baby! ------------------ IP: Logged |

Rant: it is impossible to stay away from here. It's like an addiction. Rant: I weighed myself yesterday for the first time in ages and it was not nice, but... Rave: I have been eating very very healthy food this week and I haven't cheated once. That is not like me at all. Rave: my mum said if I lose 7lb she will buy me designer glasses! Mine are kind of broken right now so I really have to try hard! LLK you shouldn't be hungry, that's not a good way to diet. I am on an amazing diet where I can eat tonnes of food and still lose loads of weight... no idea how it works but I like it! Rant/rave/worry: I'm going on an army style training thing tonight, and I have no idea what it will be like. I am so unfit I'll look ridiculous, but... I want to try it. Hmmm. IP: Logged |

Theoretically what you crave is something your body is telling you that you need. Essentially if you crave meat then you need protein. Eating peanut butter (which really should be done somewhat sparingly during pregnacy if you have a history of allergies [and not just food allergies!]) or soy should fix that. But when you're pregnant and you WANT something so bad that you're dreaming about it... it's hard to allow yourself to accept a substitute. That's why when I actually craved milk I gave into it. Even though milk isn't exactly good for me. (Moderation is the key for me.) Anything else I've "craved" has been more like, ooooohhh that sounds good right now because I'm hungry about 23 hours out of the day. If any of you ladies get pregnant and crave things like dirt, laundry soap, coffee grounds, or pretty much any other strange things then DON'T eat it and tell your doc. It's a sign of PICA which is an iron deficiancy which can be very serious while pregnant. Wow.. y'all are probably learning more about pregnancy then any of you ever wanted to know.. heh. ------------------ IP: Logged |

The cravings pregnant women get are the combined lack of nutrients in the mother and fetus cuz the little baby takes all the nutrients from the mom. Pregnant women, besides the usual strange combinations, have also been known to eat dirt, grass, and chalk. In other words, if something you hate tastes really good, you most likely have a mineral or protein deficiency. IP: Logged |

You have to remember that a woman can still get cravings while taking prenatal vitamins. Prenatals normally have an INSANE amount of everything in them. There are higher amounts in them than you can absorb so a lot of them just goes right through your body. I do believe that a lot of times if you crave something then you probably need something- I doubt there is anything particular about Taco Bell food that I'm getting that I don't get with my regular diet. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Since my brother's girlfriend was pregnant I've learned a lot about pregnancy and infancy. Living, even part time, with a pregnant woman and then infant child teaches you a lot. Not that I pretend to know everything, I don't. I've also taken courses too so I know a lot of the sciency stuff about fetal development and health and all. Again, not that I think I know everything. I won't even be close till I live it. Which, as much as I want a baby right now. I hope is a while. I'd like to be a little older, more succesful, more settled, and more married. Hopefully.

She loves Elphie, sure, but she sure as heck doesn't like her. It's okay though because I want babies and I want my KITTY so when the time comes... they shall have to love each other! IP: Logged |

Rant: everything in my freezer has defrosted, and everything in my fridge has frozen. Clearly my fridge-freezer is having some issues. I would advise that you do not freeze eggs, cans of beers or bottles of milk. It's not pretty. So I have a month's worth of food to eat. Party anyone? IP: Logged |

Rant: Got rear ended this morning. Something about snow makes everyone forget how to drive. Rant: Still don't have a working laptop. Rant: All the bullshit around here has decreased my desire to post. I'm not cut out to be a mod if I can't even stand up for all of us and these boards, but honestly, I just don't feel like dealing with it. There are much more pertinent things to worry about than all this. Rant: More snow. Will it ever end? My only rave: Pats = 17-0. ------------------ IP: Logged |

lostladyknight Moderator |
PaN you're allowed to have more pertinent things going on in your life. So what if you cant jump in to the fights all the time, that doesn't mean you're not cut out. I personally know I'd be a lot less comfortable as a mod here without you. Besides I've been trying really hard, right? Even if I'm not doing such a good job. We're a team. I have your back when you can't be here... you can get my back next time right? No worries about not wanting to deal with it. Honestly. That's why we have more than one mod. We're a good group and we have it under control.
I'm sick of my job... Rave: Back to school today. That could be a rant, but I'll let you know later. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Oh, pshaw PaN. Anyways, how did you feel about Victorya winning with that horrid concoction last week? That was the ugliest dress I have ever seen. Oh, and Kevin being voted off? No, I never did like him, and yes his dress was hooker-rific and cheap, but Ricky has been so much worse during the competition! At least Kevin probably could've done better in the future...Ricky has no hope. IP: Logged |

Rant: headache. Really bad. And I have no painkillers and I can't sleep. Undecided: Juno. I just watched it and I can't decide whether I like it or not. Weird. Rave/rant/rave: Idina and Josh Groban are doing a Chess concert in London (rave) but I kind of can't go because I have end of year presentations both days the concert is on (rant)... although I could make up an excuse to present early and have enough time to get there (rave). I don't really want to lie to my tutors, but this is Idina and Chess and the last day of university before summer... oh. I hate indecision. I really need to book now if I want to go. That reminds me, I need to book a train. Nighty nighty IP: Logged |

Rant:My boyfriend works overnights...I hate it. (He's a cop, so even more stress there.) quote: You know, I meant to post about this and clearly I never did. I truly think the judges made a huge mistake. I do wonder what was going through their heads when they decided to keep Ricky over Kevin. They admitted themselves that Ricky's been consistently underperforming EVERY WEEK. Why would you keep someone like that? He's never stood out, he's just not good enough. Kevin on the other hand has had some really strong weeks. To have ONE mishap is not enough to send him home. I just think they royally screwed up. And in terms of the winner, for the second week in a row I actually preferred Chris. I really kinda liked Kit's, too, it was very cute. I mean if I had to choose between the two finalists, I would've picked Sweet P definitely. She surprised me this week. And I'm SO glad Christian finally got a reality check. Not so tough after all.
