rant: I feel like such a jerk now.

One of the film classes at our school made DVDs of our spring musical- nothing too fancy, just shot with camcorders from various angles in the auditorium. I got my DVD last Wednesday and rushed home to watch it, but found, much to my dismay, that although the images were good, the sound quality was beyond hideous. There was this nasty screechy overtone to the whole thing... it was painful to listen to, in part because I knew how fabulous it sounded in person. I decided it was just the result of the camcorder mics picking up the sound from the actors' mics, as I figured we probably didn't have the best camcorders in the world. And I did complain, to a few of my friends. Out loud. In my school. Which the students in the film class obviously attend.

Today I went to watch a certain song because I knew the acting was amazing and would make up for the sound. So I put my DVD in and started to watch it, and it sounded fine. Perfect. No more screechy nastiness. I don't know what happened- maybe there was something on the DVD the first time, maybe one of my parents turned on the sound system or something. I have no idea.

But I just realized that what I said will probably get back to the film students eventually, and it's not true, and they'll probably think I think it's their fault. I feel awful.

Unsolicited advice- be proactive and talk to them? Something like... "Hey this happened to my DVD, and then it didn't. Why did that happen?? How can I make sure it doesn't happen again?" That *should* keep from being pissed.

I noticed it a few days ago but haven't had the chance to try it out yet.

Meanwhile, I've been waiting for them to develop a system like that for years.

I don't know. But I am a vegetarian now. I hope this will prolong my life. And, apparently, there is a significant difference between a vegan and a person who is a vegetarian. I forget the details but in short a vegan does not eat meat of any kind or any dairy products while a vegetarian eats no meat (except for fish when they fancy it), and will consume dairy. Hurrah! So while I cannot predict your health at this moment, I am in a position to recomend a vegetarian life-style.

Rant: My computer is in the shop. I am on my husbands, I hate his computer, it has none of my programs and it's loaded with crap.

Witchboy - is there any particular reason you are turning Vegetarian? Are you against animal slaughter for human consumption or is it that you just feel a vegetarian lifestyle is far healthier? It is worrying because you are so young and you have so much growing to do and there are some serious negatives (health wise) to vegetarianism if you aren't careful. I won't preach or disagree with your choice, I just hope you have done adequate research and know the foods you need to eat to replace the nutrients and dietary benefits you would otherwise get (and that your body needs) from meat, poultry and seafood.

Vegan is no animal products, no dairy, no fish, no eggs

Vegetarian - no meat products but will usually have dairy/eggs

Pescetarian are Vegetarians who will also eat seafood

EDIT: I AM CURSED!!! The camera in my phone has died today. And my Foxtel (cable) remote only half works

A big thing in a vegan lifestyle is not only no animal byproducts in your food, but anywhere in your life. No leather or such.

ya, i alwys thought vegan was that nothing that comes from animals would be incorprated into your life - like Minxy said...leather. and no eggs, no milk, no fish oil...?

i appreciate your advice and concern and completely respect your chosen life style...but i could never be a vegetarian. just couldn't do it.

I actually do call people things like "honey" and "sweetheart," all the time, but not out loud. Unless I know for a fact they're younger than me, or I think they're younger than me (or they're acting younger than me, but in that case I'll only say it in my head, as that's a a judgment call I don't like to make). I have no idea why age is a factor in that.

Yes, because of the bees.

rant: final concert...

Rant: Haven't been on here in a while.

Rave: But I'm back now.

Thanks Muse for the font name. When your comp is back up and running again, would you be able to help me create the layout for the internal pages? Those I'll be able to just edit the content for each page as needed, but at least the layout would remain the same.

Also, how do you get fonts like that to appear on everyone's computers? I've found that older operating systems don't display fonts that aren't already in their systems. Is there anyway around this when creating a website?

Rant: I am still sick

Rave: the season finales of Lost and Greys Anatomy were fantastic!

Plant A Note - with the font, the only way to get around it is by making the text area an image, which is not uncommon. With some of the sites you showed me as examples, I am pretty sure at least one of them had an image with text down the side, but were one solid image.

The layouts I can help you with, as I mentioned before, the easiest way is to either A: find a site with the format you like and copy the source code, change as required or B: play around with the layouts in coffeecup to suit your needs But yes, I should be able to help, no word on how soon my computer (OR MY PHONE) will be back... it's been an unlucky couple of weeks

Rant: I was calling customers because of a new program in our studio. Apparently this one fellow didn't appreciate our "Wonderful Father's Day offer." As a matter of a fact he apparently appreciated it so little he felt the need to yell at me for five minutes in which he managed to threaten to call the police, my job, and my life.

Nice.

Something: My friend since we were 13 (her) and 14 (me) is pregnant and getting married. Meanwhile I'm still adjusting to the fact that my boyfriend has two kids. When exactly did we grow up enough to be parents? When did that happen?!
