Yay for Minxy! A little girl! In the General Chinwagging thread Minxy said the little baby is due May 18 or sometime in the middle of May. So the baby will either be a Taurus or a Gemini depending on when she is born in May. Just saying. For the last few years, I have been teaching myself how to use tarot cards and that has led me to learn a little astrology too. Alannah Lyn is her name... and I'm leaning towards he being a Gemini. Most 1st time mommies go about a week to 10 days over their due date. (My aunt went a whole month!) So... But it would be cool to have a little Taurus... although that could be pure hell when she's a teenager (I'm a Taurus too!) ------------------ IP: Logged |

I've woken up at 1pm for the last 2 weeks. I've been sleeping through alarms and everything. It's getting seriously annoying because I have a ton of work to do. Rant: I cannot for the life of me do this one piece of work. I have to reduce energy consumption and get my stupid u values below certain levels, and the only way I can do it is to reduce my glazing. Basically, to meet requirements, I can have 5.9m^2 of windows. That's one or two windows. In a four bedroom house. It's just so stupid and such a waste of my time. It can't be done. Unless my walls are 2m thick with insulation. I'm really hating my course at the moment. IP: Logged |

munchkin-I'm not exactly sure why, but you're post made me think of something called the window tax. A long time ago, and I mean a really long time ago, houses were taxed based on how many windows they had. If there were less than four or five windows in the entire house it was exempt from the tax. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Rave: I'm getting the script and karaoke cd. ![]() Rave: No school tomorrow! ------------------ IP: Logged |

quote: I've actually heard of that! But you're right, that was a very long time ago. 1600's. I'm pretty happy that's still around though, because my house has many windows, and I don't want our taxes to be stacked up because of that. IP: Logged |

Rant: I'm really, really scared right now. I literally daren't do anything in case the phone rings. A few months ago I was talking about my friend who is pregnant. I haven't had any contact with her for a while (I've tried to get in touch but not had any luck) but she's just tried to ring me and I didn't answer because my phone was in another room. Anyway, I checked my phone and had 2 missed calls and a voice message, and she was hysterical and asking me to ring her back as soon as I could. I did and she's not answering. I have no idea whatsoever what it might be about, but she sounded so terrified and I'm really worried. I don't know whether to go to her flat. But I don't know what number flat she lives in so I wouldn't be able to get in the building... I'm so scared. I don't know what to do. I'm really aware that I'm the only person in this city she really knows. And I don't know her all that well. And it's midnight and I have an exam tomorrow at 9am but I can't sleep til I know what's happening. Argh!!!! IP: Logged |

Still don't know what's going on ![]() I have to go to bed, I have an exam which I can't afford to fail. I've been trying to ring her for 3 hours, sent her messages, rung the hospital and lied through my teeth to get them to give me information (she's not there). There's nothing I can do apart from go to her flat, and 1. I'm not walking down my dodgy street alone in the middle of the night, 2. I don't know her flat number so I'd have to buzz all of them and 3. Who answers their door at 3am anyway? I just so worried, but I can't realistically do any more than I have. I'm annoyed at myself for not being there to answer the phone in the first place, but I can't change that now. So, I'll just try again in the morning. I have to try and get some sleep. Night everyone *************************** So she's at home and OK. I had a text from her a couple of hours ago. Still have no idea what happened, but at leasts she's OK now. Rant: it's really annoying me that the Rent countdown is different on the site than on the adverts on BWW. I know it's stupid and it shouldn't bother me (why do I even know that they're different?!) but it does. What point, exactly, are they counting down to? Seriously? Edited to add a huge rant. Months ago a childhood friend of mine was killed when he was hit by a man's car while he was out of state being the mascot for our local college. We all believed it was an honest, tragic accident. I just heard differently. Apparently the man who came forward as the one who hit him lied. He wasn't driving. His son, who had a *suspended license* was the one who hit and killed him. The son now faces up to 5 years in prison while the father up to 18 months. Not enough time, but I sincerely wish both leave that place with a significantly enlarged ... well, I'm sure you know where I'm going. Rant: I've been cleaning almost all day and feel like I haven't made any progress at all ![]() Note on the Vista thing: If your computer comes with Windows Vista and you have your old Windows XP CD you can use it to put the Windows XP on the new computer. Yeah, I'm not devastated that he died... just honestly shocked. Usually when someone in the public eye is involved with drugs, the public eye knows. I'm just really really surprised. And a little disappointed because I rather liked him as an actor, and it also means that he will not finish filming as the Joker in the not-even-released Dark Knight nor be cast in any other Batman movies that follow that he was scheduled to be in. *sigh* And JenM9, I would do that, only my last laptop came with Windows XP installed on it, no disc needed. So I would do that if I could. I think I'm getting used to it, and I'm having fun playing with all the gadgets and whatnot. It's just the incompatibility that's frustrating. ------------------ IP: Logged |

rant: the death of Heath Ledger. i actualy cannot believe it. i respected the guy and he just blew all it away with the way he died. it would have been bette if he was killed, but instead he kinda killed himself. so sad. rant: last week Brad Renfro died. bad things happen in three's, so there will be another young male actor to die pretty soon. i am not a superstitious person, but this is one that i have always believed in. so i guess we'll see soon enough who it will be. (sorry that sounded so morbid). rave: making some good sales at work. rave: almost completely rid of my bad cold. ------------------ [This message has been edited by helenbooktrip (edited 01-22-2008).] IP: Logged |

Rant: Heath Leger. It really came as a shock to me that he died. I rather liked A Knight's Tale. The drugs really surprised me too, and I have to agree with helen, I lost some respect for him because of them. I found out in my chemistry class. We were flipping through channels and CNN was on, and Heath Leger was all over the screen. The juniors sitting around me all broke out their cell phones, and were rapidly telling anyone they could think of. It really disappointed me, the way they broke it to everyone. "Picture Heath Leger. Yeah, the guy from The Patriot. Okay? Yeah, he's dead. I know! Okay, bye I need to call [insert name here]". Rant: Finals week! I'm not prepared! Rave: School starts at nine all week. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I wouldn't be so quick to jump on the "suicide" band wagon guys. They haven't even performed an autopsy yet! Yes, they found pills, but they were contained prescription sleeping pills. Not just a smorgasboard of drugs. I know it sounds naive but it makes a difference. There was an article this morning in which he was quoted saying this: quote: The article goes onto say: quote: I'm speculating that he tried taking a few extra pills before he was supposed to, to try to get some more sleep and it backfired on him. Like I said, maybe I'm being naive, but then again, I don't know him. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Plant a Note (edited 01-23-2008).] IP: Logged |

That sounds reasonable, but I heard they did find other drugs around him. The toxicity reports aren't out yet, though, so we don't know if he took them. Rant: http://www.godhatesfags.com/written/fliers/20080122_heath-ledger-brokeback-mountain.pdf Why aren't they dead yet? IP: Logged |
