I don't know how many of you have seen Zeitgeist but I have a question for those of you who have. The second and third section of the documentary about the corrupt government made me really angry... How much of that do you believe? Do you think it's all true?

I ask this from the standpoint of someone who has always highly respected your opinions but... what makes you say that?

The film is literally a mash-up of paranoid conspiracy theories that have been floating around for years and years. 9/11 conspiracies, the "Jesus Myth," the "One World Government," implanted microchips (the "mark of the beast" described in Luke, according to lunatics with a Biblical bent), et cetera--they may as well have thrown in the Illuminati, the vast Satanic conspiracy, and reptilian overlords.

The film just isn't to be taken seriously.

What constitutes a showreel (when applying for a job presenting on children's TV)?

I highly doubt that I would ever get a job on TV, but hey, it's my dream, I have inside contacts and therefore have the address to send applications to (this is a seriously well kept secret), and there are currently 3 open spots! You don't get anywhere if you don't try.

And apparently, interviews are conducted whilst you bounce on a trampoline. That sounds fun.

When you say it isn't to be taken seriously, do you mean I shouldn't take it seriously, or it wasn't meant to be taken seriously? I find it hard to beleive (or understand maybe) why someone would spend so much time just jumbling a bunch of conspiracies into one video... Was it meant to enrage people, without the creators believing it?

Well, now I feel a bit foolish... I hadn't realized these were all popular conspiracy theories already, and sadly in my naivity I found it all to be entirely believable.

I wouldn't call you naive. Conspiracy theories have to have seem like they could be true in order for them to be passed along.

first things first, thanks for the boyfriend advice. i told him to wait and see how we felt after i finish college before we moved in together and he was totally cool with it. he just wants me to be happy. anyway, i have yet another boyfriend question. is it a good idea to get a job at the same place he works or is that braking an unwritten rule? a little help here would be nice.

No it isn't breaking a rule, but it may not be the best of ideas. It can cause unneeded drama in the workplace, and honestly I think it could be distracting.

Is it considered plagiarism to base the concept of a criticism of a short story partially on someone else's? Without borrowing or paraphrasing any of their words? I would assume not, since no criticism can ever be truly "unique", but if this particular theory is so specific, can it seem inappropriate?

it could be plagiarism, depending on how you use the other persons critisizm in your own work. i am not an expert though.

Okay ladies, I need some opinions.

I'm in desperate need of some new bras. I tend to buy mine at Victoria's Secret, but am really not quite equipped to spend the money on them right now. So I need some recommendations for good quality bras, ones that won't fall apart in a year, for not so much money.

I don't know how expensive Vicky's bras are but Lane Bryant has some comfortable bras starting around $28. They tend to have larger sizes but you can check out their website too.

i honestly cannot recommend anything to you PaN. this is because (TMI Alert) my breasts are very large and i spend over $100 for my bras....each. i know its alot, but i would rather have fewer, excellent quality bras than more cheap ones. i buy my bras at specialty bra stores. they are not usually franchized stores, so i can't really say. plus, i don't live in the US.
every woman should have the opportunity to get professionally fitted for a bra. i strongly recommend that all of you find a bra boutique place in your area and just go for a visit. i was in the complete wrong size and the staff at these places are so knowledgable. they will teach you everything you could possibly know about bras and and fitting into them. once you get a professionally fitted, customized bra...you'll never go back.

sorry, went off on a tangent there.

I'm glad you did, because I've been thinking about getting properly fitted. I'm rather busty myself, and while my bras are passable, I've never had one that seemed to fit quite right. Once I have a bit more money squared way (i.e. when I'm no longer a poor student) I will definitely go the way of customized bras.

Lane Bryant is pretty good, that's where my roomie goes for hers.

I'm Vicky's, usually.

Cheap but kinda last? Maybe try an outlet mall? Prices tend to be a little better.

i had a couple bras from vicky's, but honestly i preferred this one i got from target. it fits more comfortably, acts as a better push-up, and it was only $12! also it's black lace, which i think is pretty sexy.
target has a wide variety of bras all at excellent prices. and there's some really delightfully fruity designs. :P

edited: i forgot to add that i believe in almost everything zeitgeist claimed. i have written a 13-page research paper on RFID microchips and it doesn't seem too unlikely to me for the government to start mandating them to be implanted in everyone.

Thanks guys. I'm actually fairly average, so I don't think Lane Bryant would work. I ended up just buying a couple on VS last night because they are having their sale. I had them measure me once and they put me in a bra that was so unbelievably and uncomfortably small, I have lost trust in professional fittings. Then again, what do those girls really know about bra fitting?

I have bought bras from Target before but they've all fallen apart.

I guess that also depends a little on what kind of bra wearer you are.

I, myself, have about twenty bras of assorted sizes, shapes, and colors and I wear a different one every day. I change them like panties.

My roomate, however, buys them two or three at a time and cycles through those three as frequently as needed.

I imagine she goes through them much more quickly than I do.

Target and other department store bras seem to last me just fine. I'm wearing one right now that I got from Wal Mart my senior year of high school. It's insanely comfortable by now. But... I'm much smaller than your average consumer and they don't cater to us littler breasted women. Okay, I'm like a B 1/2 but seriously... I wish I could fill out a C-cup.

I have a variety of bras from a few different places. Lane Bryant's are my favorite. They almost always have a deal going on buy one get one half off. They do cost me a bit more but they do last me longer with the same amount of use. And they're prettier!

My Grandfather died about a month ago and I'm still finding it really hard to let him go. Is this unnatural? I'm not sure and I don't want my parents dragging me off to a psycologist.

A counselor would be more likely, and less expensive. Is it unnatural? Doubtful but it depends on if your sobbing your eyes out still. People mourn different but if its worrying your parents then you need to talk to them about why you still feel so bad, or you do need to speak with a counselor. If you are unable to function that is not good.

Its not that I'm not able to function but I don't think I'm able to function as well.

If you were really close to your grandfather, it will take longer than a month to heal from the loss. It is normal that you still cry about him sometimes at this point. Give it a year, and then, if you still can't think about him without tearing-up, you might think about seeking help.

But at this point you sound normal.

So, I find myself being bored a lot lately. It is summer vacation and I typically work about 12:00pm-8:00pm. I'm not really the partying type so anything after work is friendly gathering or bonfires and the like, but I can't do that every day. I don't even get up till like 8:00 or 9:00 so anything lengthy in the morning is out of the question.

I really have a big problem with feeling like I have so much unused time. I wish I had something productive to do. Do any of you have suggestions for what I could occupy my time with at odd hours like early morning and late nights. I hate just sitting online for hours, and I don't play any video games. I don't want to just read every night and sit around, not to mention I almost never watch tv.

Any recommendations would be appreciated, it can be anything you guys might like doing or would suggest, online or otherwise. I just hate feeling so unproductive.

Thanks.

you could be crafty and do some scrapbooking. you could make a scrapbook for you high school years!! and then you could make a special page for each of of your friends and they can hang it on thier wall....okay sorry, got out of hand.
yes, i would say scrapbook your high school years. you can go to walmart or something and pick some fairly decently priced supplies. make to bargain shop for it.

you could also plant a garden and try growing vegetable.

you could learn how to bake and try out new recipes. (hey, didnt we have a member on here a while ago who took culinary arts in school? what was his name? he were cool...i miss him.) Oh! you could learn to make sushi. you and your friends could sign up for a fun night class at a local college and see what fun courses they have....okay maybe too much money.

or you could just get chores done like laundry, dishes, tidying your room, writing me love letters, vacuuming, etc.

Thanks for all the suggestions Helen! I do a bit of scrap-booking and take a lot of joy out of cooking so you sort of hit the nail right on the head with those. Unfortunately I live in an apartment so gardening isn't so much of an option, though in my old house it was a past time I enjoyed frequently.

All of those chores seem pretty tedious except one. Haven't you been receiving all my love letters, or do I have the wrong address?

And to Yero, how does one go about learning another language for himself?

I've been bored this week. I thought it would be fun having nothing at all to do for a while, but after 2 days I was voluntarily going jogging to escape...

I'm looking forward to work tonight, for 3 reasons:
1. Something useful to do!
2. Money! I curently have none. At all.
3. My job is in the one little pub we have in our village, and it will be great to walk to work and not have to worry about buses or parking.

So, to keep myself occupied next week I am going to continue with my plan to get fit, and also restart my attempts to learn Italian.

I have a book and a tape, but no tape player. I think I can manage with the book though. I have 2 weeks til I go on holiday and it's supposedly a 6 week course, but I have a lot of free time!

I could also write my dissertation, of course, but I want to wait til I know whether I've passed this year.
