Okay, so you know how sometimes you hear a lyric or a verse from a song and think to yourself "I love this so much! I want to share it with others so we can appreciate its awesomeness!"

Well this is what this thread is for: Those lyrics that make you giggle, smile, cry, anything!

Have fun

okay I'm just going to post everything I love musical lyrics wise.

Jamie is probably feeling just fine, and I'm still hurting.

I know it's crazy but I only feel love when it's in my dreams

If you came from Spain, or Japan or the back of the van, long as you weren't from Hebrew school!

My people have suffered for thousands of years and I don't give a shit!

Na na na na na, I give you unlimted time.

No don't look at my resume I made up half my resume.. why did I chose these shoes, why did I pick this song, why did I chose this carrer, WHY, does this pianist hate me?!

Maybe I'm brainless, Maybe I'm wise.[i]

[i]Tell Cosette, I'll see her when I wake...now Life has killed the dream I dreamed.

I wrote a story, we changed the ending, I built a treehouse, and fixed it when it was broken, and no one needs to know, so come back to bed kid - I promise I won't lie to you.

With all we've had to go through, we'll end up twice as strong

Leaping this leprechaun's ["Rumplestiltskin's" in next chorus] wall
I'm so disenchanting
Intoxicated by my own tear's soul

on my own, I walk with him till morning

I don't know how you could stand there so straight and tall and see i'm crying and not do anything at all

one by one, only the good die young

it's a sin with no name, it's a dangerous game!

wow that's enough for now!

Freebird
If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me?
For I must be travelling on, now,
cause theres too many places Ive got to see.
But, if I stayed here with you, girl,
Things just couldnt be the same.
cause Im as free as a bird now,
And this bird you can not change.
Lord knows, I cant change.

Bye, bye, its been a sweet love.
Though this feeling I cant change.
But please dont take it badly,
cause lord knows Im to blame.
But, if I stayed here with you girl,
Things just couldnt be the same.
Cause Im as free as a bird now,
And this bird youll never change.
And this bird you can not change.
Lord knows, I cant change.
Lord help me, I cant change.

This song makes me cry- Lynyrd Skynyrd was the favorite band of my brother's best friend. He died in nov. 2003 and during his viewing they played this song.

From Blood on Blood by Bon Jovi
I can still remember
When I was just a kid
When friends were friends forever
And what you said was what you did

...

Through the years and miles between us
Its been a long and lonely ride
But if I got a call in the dead of the night
Id be right by your side

ok, just about anything that Jon Foreman (from Switchfoot) writes is amazing!
but here's something that popped into my head when i read the post:
You keep the air in my lungs
Floating along as a melody comes
And my heart beats like timpani drums
Keeping the time while a symphony strums

And I'm drying out
Crying out
This isn't how I go.

^a section of"How I Go" by Yellowcard^

basically, all of the songs i listen to have great lyrics...

and here's "Life is Wonderful" by Jason Mraz:
It takes a crane to build a crane
It takes two floors to make a story
It takes an egg to make a hen
It takes a hen to make an egg
There is no end to what I'm saying

It takes a thought to make a word
And it takes some words to make an action
It takes some work to make it work
It takes some good to make it hurt
It takes some bad for satisfaction

La la la la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la la la life goes full circle
Ah la la la la la la life is wonderful
Al la la la la

It takes a night to make it dawn
And it takes a day to make you yawn brother
And it takes some old to make you young
It takes some cold to know the sun
It takes the one to have the other

And it takes no time to fall in love
But it takes you years to know what love is
It takes some fears to make you trust
It takes those tears to make it rust
It takes the dust to have it polished

Ha la la la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la la la life goes full circle
Ah la la la la la la life is so full of
Ah la la la la la la life is so rough
Ah la la la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la la la life goes full circle
Ah la la la la la la life is our love
Ah la la la la la

It takes some silence to make sound
It takes a loss before you found it
And it takes a road to go nowhere
It takes a toll to make you care
It takes a hole to make a mountain

Ah la la la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la la la life goes full circle
Ha la la la la la life is wonderful
Ha la la la la la life is meaningful
Ha la la la la la life is wonderful
Ha la la la la la life it is...so... wonderful
It is so meaningful
It is so wonderful
It is meaningful
It is wonderful
It is meaningful
It goes full circle
Wonderful
Meaningful
Full circle
Wonderful

i hope this post isn't too long...

sorry if i'm posting too much...
here's a cool chorus from a switchfoot song:
A pledge allegiance to a country without borders, without politicians
Watching for my sky to get torn apart
We are broken, we are bitter
We're the problem, we're the politicians
Watching for our sky to get torn apart
C'mon and break me

and i am now in love with teddy geiger (hehe), so i'll post my favorite song of his (its called "For You I Will (Confidence)"):
Wondering the streets, in a world underneath it all
Nothing seems to be, nothing tastes as sweet
As what I can't have
Like you and the way that you're twisting your hair
round your finger
Tonight I'm not afraid to tell you
What I feel about you.

I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
and cannon ball into the water
I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
For you I will
For you I will

Forgive me if I stutter
From all of the clutter in my head
Cuz I could fall asleep in those eyes
Like a water bed
Do I seem familiar, i've crossed you in hallways
a thousand times, no more camouflage
I want to be exposed, and not be afraid to fall.

I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
And cannon ball into the water
I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
For you I will
You always want what you can't have
But I've got to try
I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
For you I will
For you I will
For you I will
For you

If I could dim the lights in the mall
And create a mood I would
Shout out your name so it echos in every room
I would

That's what I'd do, That's what I'd do to get through to you

I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
And cannon ball into the water
I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
For you I will
You always want what you can't have
But I've got to try
I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
For you I will

I don't own emotion--I rent it.

I wonder if God is tryin' to make a fool out of me

Hot-hot-hot sweat sweet- harder-faster wetter-you bastard-you whore-you cannibal--more!

Take me for what I am, who I was meant to be

I die w/o you

Vogue (hah)

I'm through with playing by the rules of someone else's game

She bop, he bop, we bop, I bop, you bop, they bop (hehehe)

I won't worry my life away

You'll say we've got nothin in common, no common ground to start from, and we're fallin apart...and I said "what about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"

Only thing to do is jump over the moon

You could be good for me...I've got a taste for danger...If I'm smart then I'll run away--but I'm not so guess I'll stay, heaven forbid I fall in love with a beutiful stranger.....

No day but today

Umm, my favorites include the following.

"The opposite of war isn't peace... It's creation."
~RENT

"Forget regret or life is yours to miss."
~RENT

"Freedom is just another word for nothing left to loose."
~Janice Joplin

"
Whenever I'm from time to time depressed
And a trauma wells and swells
Within my breast
I find some pride deep inside of me
And I fondly walk down the lane of memory
I see Bonaparte
A mean one if ever I've seen one
And Nero fiddlin' thru that lovely blaze
Antionetts, dainty queen, with her quaint guillotine
Ha ha ha ha
Those were the good old days"
~Damn Yankees

"Goodbye, old girl
My old girl
When you awaken I'll be gone
Can't tell you where I go
It isn't fair, I know
But trust in me and carry on
Goodbyr old friend
My old friend
There's sometin' I must let you know
I haven't said it much
I guess I've lost my touch
But, my old girl, I love you so
No I know it hasn't all been rosy
We've had squabblin' days when tears were brought about
But in a moment or two we would bill and coo
And never even knew
What we fought about
And now you Joe has to go
But he'll come back to you again
So sleep your sleep, old girl
Our love will keep, old girl, till then
My old girl
Goodbye"
~Damn Yankees

and now I have to go... I'll have more for you guys later.

"I don't know anybody survives in this life without someone like you."--The Last 5 Years "The Next Ten Minutes"

"Kiss me beneath the milky twilight"--Sixpence None the Richer, "Kiss Me"

"Some things I cannot change, but 'till I try, I'll never know"--Wicked, "Defying Gravity"

"These eyes have seen the most beautiful dream"--Tyrone Wells, "Seabreeze"

"If I could open my mouth wide enough for a marching band to march out, they would make your name sing"--Death Cab for Cutie "Marching Bands of Manhattan" (this is me and my boyfriend's "song" hehe)

Okay enough for now

Oh you didn't! I LOVE the Bangles! Seriously, they were my absolute favorite band growing up!

Ok, here's a few of mine, but with thousands of songs swimming in my head I'm bound to miss some.

"Music is worthless unless it can make a complete stranger break down and cry."

"Coming down, the world turned over,
Angels fall without you there."

"I want to know just who They are,
I want to see Their faces,
I want to know who put Them in charge,
Of these good graces."

"There's just two ways to lose yourself in this life
And neither way is safe
In my dreams I see visions of the future
But today we have today...

In the economy of mercy
I am a poor and begging man
In the currency of grace
Is where my song begins."

"We are crooked souls trying to stay up straight,
Dry eyes in the pouring rain well
The shadow proves the sunshine."

"Well I could drink a case of you darling,
and I would still be on my feet."

"How did it go so fast
you'll say
as we are looking
back
and then we'll
understand
we held gold dust
in our
hands"

Ok, that is only a miniscule look into my favorite lyrics... I'll be back later with more!

Paraphrasing a bit:

'The boss is quite a ladies' man,
And that's my biggest gripe:
Till I showed up he'd never hired
A girl 'cos she could type,
I'm no femme fatale but faithful and true
As a Saint Bernard,
You can always count on me,
The kind of a gal who'd slip you a file
Past the prison guard,
Loyal to the nth degree,
You can always count on me...

I choose the kinda guy
Can't introduce the gal he's with;
There's lots of smirking motel clerks
Who call me "Mrs Smith",
But I've made a name with motel detectives
Who break down doors,
Guess who they expect to see?
You can always count on me.
Though my kinda dame no doubt
Will die out like the dinosaurs,
You can always count on me...

One Joe who swore he was single
Got me slightly crocked - the beast! -
I woke up only slightly shocked
That I'd defrocked a priest;
Or else I attract the guys that are wanting
To "do my hair",
You can always count on me...'

And so on...

EDIT: Oh, and lostladynight, 'My favorite encore was the Hundred Years War' has got to be up there! I also love the same people's 'There Once Was A Man' from 'The Pajama Game', with the line about being in love that goes "It rocks ma whole solar plexus, / It's bigger than Texas". Genius.

High Enough
Written by Tommy Shaw, Jack Blades, Ted Nugent (Performed by Damn Yankees)

I don't wanna hear about it anymore
It's a shame I've got to live without you anymore
There's a fire in my heart
A pounding in my brain
It's driving me crazy

We don't need to talk about it anymore
Yesterday's just a memory
Can we close the door
I just made one mistake
I didn't know what to say when you called me baby

Don't say goodnight
Say you're gonna stay forever
Oh oo Oh, all the way

Can you take me high enough
To fly me over (fly me over) yesterday
Can you take me high enough
It's never over
Yesterday's just a memory (yesterday's just a memory and)

I don't want to live without you anymore
Can't you see I'm in misery
And you know for sure
I would live and die for you
And I'd know just what to do when you call me baby

Don't say goodbye
Say you're gonna stay forever
Oh oo Oh, all the way

Can you take me high enough
Can you fly me over (fly me over) yesterday
Can you take me high enough
It's never over
Yesterday's just a memory, I'm running
I was running for the door
The next thing I remember
I was running back for more
Yeah...

Don't say goodbye
Say you're gonna stay forever
Oh oo Oh, all the way (all the way, all the way, yeah)

Can you take me high enough
Can you fly me over (fly me over) yesterday
Can you take me high enough
It's never over
Woh oo oh oo oh oo oh

Can you take me high enough
Won't you fly me over (won't you fly me over) yesterday
Can you take me high enough
It's never over
Woh oo oh oo oh oo oh

This is going to sound incredibly cheesey...
But a few lyrics that always MAKE me smile are the following.

Strawberry Wine by Deana Carter

He was working through college on my grandpa's farm
I was thirsting for for knowledge and he had a car
I was caught somewhere between a woman and a child
When one restless summer we found love growing wild
On the banks of the river on a well beaten path
Funny how those memories they last

Like strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine

I still remember when thirty was old
My biggest fear was September when he had to go
A few cards and letters and one long distance call
We drifted away like the leaves in the fall
But year after year I come back to this place
Just to remember the taste

Of strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine

The fields have grown over now
Years since they've seen a plow
There's nothing time hasn't touched
Is it really him or the loss of my innocence
I've been missing so much

Like strawberry wine and seventeen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love oh bittersweet
Green on the vine
Like strawberry wine

...and Even Angels Fall by Jessica Riddle

You found hope, you found faith.
Found how fast she could take it away.
Found true love, but lost your heart.
Now you don't know who you are.

She made it easy, made it free.
Made you hurt till you couldn't see.
Sometimes it stops, sometimes it flows.
But baby, that is how love goes.

You will fly and you will crawl.
God knows even angels fall.
No such thing as you've lost it all.
God knows even angels fall.

It's a secret, that no one tells.
One day it's heaven one day it's hell.
And it's no fairy tale, take it from me.
That's the way it's supposed to be.

You will fly and you will crawl.
God knows even angels fall.
No such thing as you've lost it all.
God knows even angels fall.

You laugh, you cry, no one knows why,
But oh, the thrill of it all.
You're on the ride,
You might as well, open your eyes.

You will fly and you will crawl.
God knows even angels fall.
No such thing as you've lost it all.
God knows even angels fall.
Even angels fall.
Even angels fall.

Everyday I Love You by Boyzone

I don't know but I believe
That some things are meant to be
And that you'll make a better me
Everyday I love you
I never thought that dreams came true
But you showed me that they do
You know that I learn somethng new
Everyday I love you
'Cos I believe that destiny
Is out of our control (don't you know that I do)
And you'll never live until you love
With all your heart and soul.
It's a touch when I feel bad
It's a smile when I get mad
All the little things I am
Everyday I love you
Everyday I love you boy
Everyday I love you
'Cos I believe that destiny
Is out of our control (don't you know that I do)
And you'll never live until you love
With all your heart and soul
If I asked would you say yes?
Together we're the very best
I know that I am truly blessed
Everyday I love you
And I'll give you my best
Everyday I love you

aw, tres cute Acey.

Hm, I'm a huge fan of Jekyll and Hyde because the lyrics are really surreal. One of my favorite songs always makes me laugh it's called: bring on the men! I just love the title:

So, we, say: bring on the men! and let the fun begin, a little touch of sin - don't wait another minute! Step this way, it's now our turn to play, they say we may never pass this way again - so don't waste one more minute - bring on the men!

I also love anything from Last Five Years - though they do make me smile - they also make me cry. It's very emotional.

I love black roses red by Alana Grace, it's such a sweet song:

As twisted as it seems, I only feel love when it's in my dreams...

Can you turn my black roses red?

Has anyone ever heard of the song "Heart of Mine" by Peter Salett (I think that's his name)? Its one of the sweetest songs I've ever heard:

Do you wanna know if everything glitterin will turn into the gold I see in your hair and feel it could be there somehow tonight?

You're still a mystery but there's something so easy in how you're sweet to me. I feel completed like its somethin I needed for this heart of mine.

That song seems familiar. I think it was in a movie called 'Keeping the Faith'. Have you seen it?

Yeah, it's a cute movie. I haven't watched it in awhile, either.

Jekyll and Hyde is one of my favorite musicals... I was Jekyll just last month in a community theatre productionn of it! You made my day be mentioning it!

Sorry, I'm as big a musicals fan as the next (sexually ambivalent) man, but I've never got the ballyhoo with 'Jekyll and Hyde', or any Frank Wildhorn stuff, to be honest. Maybe Kurt Weill or Kander and Ebb, or even Stiles and Drewe could have cooked up a good, dark, fin-de-siecle musicalisation of the Stevenson book, but as far as I can see, there's a fine line between deliberately surreal and badly written. And I'm afraid, for me at least, Wildhorn not only falls into the latter category, he twists his ankle and lies there blubbing too. Still, each to their own. What do I know anyway? I even bought the cast recording of 'Metropolis' the musical. Now that truly is a shocker...

I only like the show for the song This Is The Moment... and the fact that I was recently Jekyll makes it twice as amzing... I'm biased (sp?) don;t take my opinions seriously!

the lyrics i would end up posting on here would be inappropriate. they would most likely be from rap/hip hop sngs and they wouldnt be anything profound but i would like them because they sound good in the song or they make me yell "Oooooo!! What?".

so until i find some nice ones to post, i will refrain from puttng anything up here.

edit: but in the meantime, here is a site to help everyone out in thier posts for this thread. http://lyrics.astraweb.com/

I Feel Bad
I should be out in that driveway stoppin' you
Tears should be rollin' down my cheek
And I don't know why
I'm not fallin' apart like I usually do
And how the thought of losin' you's not killing me

[chorus]
I feel bad
That I can stand here strong,
Cold as stone
Seems so wrong, I can't explain it
Maybe it's just I've cried so much
I'm tired and I'm numb, baby I hate it
I feel bad
That I don't feel bad

I could let myself be angry over wasted time
And sad about just thrown' love away
Yeah, I almost wish my heart
Was breaking
But I can't lie
All I want to do is turn the page

[repeat chorus]

Bitter, alone
I just feel it's time - it's time to move on
I just gotta move on and on and on and on - yeah

Maybe it's just I've cried so much
I'm tired and I'm numb
Oh baby, I hate it
I feel bad
That I don't feel bad
No, I don't feel bad.

And....

My Wish
I hope the days come easy
And the moments pass slow
And each road leads you
Where you want to go
And if you're faced with the choice
And you have to choose
I hope you choose the one
That means the most to you
And if one door opens to another door closed
I hope you keep on walkin' til you
Find the window
If it's cold outside, show the
World the warmth of your smile
But more that anything,
More than anything

[chorus]
My wish for you
Is that this life becomes all that
You want it to
Your dreams stay big, your
Worries stay small
You never need to carry more
Than you can hold
And whild you're out there gettin'
Where you're gett' to
I hope you know somebody loves you
And wants the same things too
Yeah, this is my wish

I hope you never look back but
You never forget
All the ones who love you
And the place you left
I hope you always forgive
And you never regret
And you help somebody every
Chance you get
Oh, you find God's grace in
Every mistake
And always give more than you take
But more than anything,
Yeah more than anything

[repeat chorus]

This is my wish
I hope you know somebody loves you
May all your dreams stay big

My heroes had the heart to lose their lives out on a limb
And all I remember is thinking, I want to be like them
Ever since I was little, ever since I was little it looked like fun
And it's no coincidence I've come
And I can die when I'm done

Who's eyes am I behind?
I don't recognize anything that I see...
Who's skin is this design?
I don't want this to be the way that you see me...

here are snippits from a few M.I.A. songs....(i **** out some of the words to try and keep things fairly appropriate). If the lyrics offend anyone, I apologize i advance.

Galang
they say
rivers gonna run though
work is gonna save you
pray and you will pull through
s*** a d***'ll help you
don't let em get to you
if he's got 1 you get 2
backstab your crew
sell it i could sell you

Sunshowers
To Congo
To Columbo
Can't stereotype my thing yo
I checked that mouth on him
F***ing check that gas on him
I had him
Cornered him
F***ing shut that gate on him
Why would you listen to him?
He had his way I'm bored of him
I'm tired of him
I don't wanna be as bad as him

It's a bomb yo
so run yo
Put away your stupid gun yo
Cos we see through like a protocol call
That's why we blow it up 'fore we go
.....
Semi-9 and snipered him
On that wall they posted him
They cornered him
and then just murdered him

He told them he didn't know them
He wasn't there they didn't know him
They showed him a picture then
Ain't that you with the Muslims?

He had colgate on his teeth
And Reebok classics on his feet
At a factory he does Nike
And then helps the family

Beat heart beat
He's made it to the Newsweek
Sweetheart seen it
He's doing it for the peeps. peace.

I really like this song, it is inspiring me to write a story

I'm 15 for a moment
Caught in between 10 and 20
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are
I'm 22 for a moment
She feels better than ever
And we're on fire
Making our way back from Mars
15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to lose
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live
I'm 33 for a moment
Still the man, but you see I'm a they
A kid on the way
A family on my mind
I'm 45 for a moment
The sea is high
And I'm heading into a crisis
Chasing the years of my life
15 there's still time for you
Time to buy, Time to lose yourself
Within a morning star
15 I'm all right with you
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live
Half time goes by
Suddenly you’re wise
Another blink of an eye
67 is gone
The sun is getting high
We're moving on...
I'm 99 for a moment
Dying for just another moment
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are
15 there's still time for you
22 I feel her too
33 you’re on your way
Every day's a new day...
15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to choose
Hey 15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live
