I don't like it when people mix up the words "your" and "you're". Or "there", "their", and "they're".

Oh, and Helen, if that second pet peeve was for me; I realize that the swastika was made centuries before the nazi empire and it was used during the roman and egyptian empire, representing a bent cross.Besides Hitler did not have the brains to come up with that symbol.

I do admit, that does get a little annoying sometimes.

- People who call my mom "mommy" that don't even know her and just do it cause she has kids.

- People that aren't straight with me. (i mean like honest not talking about sexuality)

- People bothering me when I'm practicing piano or obviously busy.

that's a good one, i like that. ha ha!

i say "for reals" in a joking sense. but i say "for real" on a regular basis (no 's').

pet peeve: when people do their whole make-up routine in public (ie: city bus, etc). i can undestand lipstick, but for some reason when people do their foundation and eye make-up and everything in public, it just drives me nuts!

- people who misuse "irony" or "ironic".
- people (and movies) that misuse "prodigal son"
- people who feel restricted to act strictly stereo-typical. It must be so binding!

Pet Peeve: Customers who give you attitude when you're out of hazelnut coffee flavoring or when they don't agree with the price of something in the store as though it's your fault. I don't decide on the prices, so please don't preach to me about the economic recession.

I think maye i talk quiet, but its still frustrating. People should listen harder untill I can get louder. But Beware!: I tell my little sis not to say huh? and whuh? or I'll give her bad dreams. She just snorts, which is really unattractive.

Well...maybe they shouldn't have to do that. Maybe if everyone was pleasant and understanding and making everyone comfortable, no one would want the world to bend over backwards, sideways, or any other ways. Just a thought.

Yeah, everybody should help themselves. But Im not gonna ask somebody if they're helping themselves before I help them, I'm just gonna do it. that's how it works, ya know. People need help--key word 'help'--because they need assistance. Maybe that does mean somebody saying "Help yourself!"... But not always.

I understand you... But don't ya think when you help somebody, generally they respond and accept the help and become Fixed and Everything? I mean, obviously not always, but isn't that the gist?

this converaation is getting pretty stupid. obviously we'll all just have to agree to disagree on this one, because apparently there are somethings that are just not being understood. with time young one, with time.

pet peeve: when milk poured to far in advance for dinner. i want my milk ice cold and thats it! none of this 5 or 10 minute-out-of-the-fridge-warm milk. blah!

It irks me to no end when people use "I" as an object pronoun, because it's been drilled into them that they should always say "you and I."

Such as: "Jake met up with Jane and I..."

And then when you tell them it should be "Jane and me," you get that funny askance look that makes me want to grab my Chicago Manual of Style and flip to the proper page...

s'ok. kinda funny.

pet peeve: when people are under the impression that whatevr is going on in their lives is much more important than anything else you may have to take care of. side note: this is not directed at anyone here its actually about a friend of mine who is getting on my nerves right now. and in general i dont like when people do this.

Yes, but I am not attached to that word. Me? Naive? Hah! I don't think I could pull it off if I tried! (I am no Dorothy Gale, honey.) I just think what you took for naive was hope and faith in other people... You were confused. But now you know.

now forgive me, but i think me and Jane sounds better than Jane and me. But i'm not an english teacher or a grammar expert. although, one pet peeve of mine (and this is actually not directed at newbreed) is when people correct my grammar or pronounciation when i'm talking out loud. like not in writing, but when i'm speaking. when they interupt me to correct my grammar. hmm..well...i could be correcting their manners after they pull something like that. especially when they do it in front of other people. i dont get embarassed bvery easily, but someone corrects a minor mistake infront of others, its pretty rude...in my opinion. /pet peeve rant.

I'm glad it wasn't directed at me, helenbooktrip, because I've made a concerted effort to stop doing that, and I'm glad to see it's working. I'm a proofreader by trade, so it just happens sometimes. I'm working on it.

Another pet peeve...I can't stand it when people try to box my opinions into categories. For instance, "oh, you would think that, because you're female/Greek/heterosexual/what have you." It's bothersome.

oh NEWBREEEEEEED!!! I am with on that peeve. "oh my must me slutty because you like black guys." uh huh...NO! i am not easy or slutty or what have you. seriously, i am a nice, decent...sometimes outspoen girls and just because i am attracted to black guys does not make a slut. that a very unfair assumption. some people are only attracted to blonds, some people only like beefy guys, some skinny people...whatever. i am attracted to black skin. so SUE me.

in conclusion...Newbreed, i am seconding your peeve. word.
