Yero?
I have a question. Is there currently a window display in Bloomingdales which involves Rent costumes? I am undecided whether I dreamed this or actually read it somewhere.

I'll check, but I believe you're thinking about the "RENT" clothing line Bloomingdale's designed back in '96. It was included in the documentary on the movie DVD.

We miss you helen! Good luck with the move!

Matt? If you really want a sewing machine SAVE YOUR MONEY. I recently bought a serger for $200 and it is really not that good. If you sacrifice your money for a bad sewing machine, you'll never be able to bring yourself to buy a new one until the old one is unusable.

Just put a little money aside month by moth until you can afford a really good one. I recommend Singer or Pfaff. I have a Kenmore from the seventies that's still good, too.

I totally see your logic, yero, but at the same time I don't really need anything great. I'm happy with cheap and used if it "gets the job done" so to speak. At least until I'm past the learning curve... I'd hate for my spur of the moment idea to turn into a large investment that sits in the closet of my dorm taking up space.

Have I missed something?? Did I miss the first episode/season premier?? I'm so confused.

BTW, that dress is totally hot. You'd be in. I can't wait till you're old enough to enter. I didn't click on your first link up there because I can't get videos at work. But I'm excited to see it later.

Oh no, you didn't! It premieres tonight; I just couldn't wait to make the dress.

Thank you both so much! And to answer your question, valenticed, you can wear it. There's more information on the blog about it .

SYTYCD just ended where I live and I feel the need to state my various opinions.

Let's talk about the pairings. Courtney and Joshua are a GREAT pair. Way far off from their last pairing, and they danced well together. Different but beautiful. Hmmm, I worry for Mark and Kherrington. I always LOVED Mark, but now that he's with a weaker partner I'm a little scared that maybe Chelsie and their chemistry was sort of holding them up in the competition. Comfort and Twitch are hilarious together, but I don't see either of them lasting long. KATEE AND WILL! Oh my frick! Perfection. And alas, my favorite pairing: Chelsie and Gev. I think given a little time they will be great together. Already they have been a ton of fun.

Dances: Katee and Joshua-hip hop was not so great. Not bad, but not memorable. The Rumba however was gorgeous and will keep them both in the competition. Mark and Kherington's Country two step was fun and new, but not well danced. The jazz was even worse. Definitely the worst choreography I've seen come from Tyce. I worry that Mark and Kherrington are two fun characters and it's just to much fake smile animation from them. Comfort and Twitch's waltz was pretty, but nothing amazing. The hip hop was sooo much fun! I loved every second of it. Katee and Will had two PERFECT routines. The broadway was the best broadway routine I've seen in four seasons, and the ballet peice was incredible and fresh and a much needed addition to the shows repetoire. Chelsie and Gev's Contemporary was just brilliant. I adore Sanya's choreography and wish it would translate better to the average viewer. The Jive was especially fun! I thought Gev kept up well actually, I watched him more than I watched her.

My vote for who's going down tomorrow: Comfort and Twitch. Though I'm a little bit worried that Mark might not be so loved without Chelsie. I could possibly see kherington going before Comfort, but i doubt it.

My new picks for top four, Chelsie Winner, Katee second, Will third, and Gev fourth. Though I still want Mark to be in the top four. Katee and Will REALLY proved themselves as the standout couple tonight. Chelsie is just a bit more versatile.

I thought it was about time Kherrington left, and I was more-or-less routing for Comfort. I didn't agree with Mark being bottum two though. I like him and Gev a lot and Twitch should have gone before either of them.

The girls have made it pretty obvious that Chelsie and Katee should be top two definitely. The guys however are all very good this season. I think Will and Josh will be top two, but I like Mark the best. It's much closer this season than in the past I think.

I was really surprised with the results. I thought it was Comfort's (second) time to go. And possibly Twitch. The only thing that kept them alive this week was their hip-hop, so in my eyes, it's kind of a fluke. Were they actually challenged like everyone else, they would've been sent home. I feel like it was perfect timing for a "shoe-in" and wonder if it was really what they picked or if someone higher-up intended for them to get hip-hop. I dunno.

Katee and Will... my god. What a perfectly matched pair. They were the standouts by a loooooong mile.

Though Kherington and Mark weren't good this week, I think that the viewers only acted on behalf of this week alone and not their previous weeks. Mark has never been in the bottom three, though I think that's in part to Chelsie holding him up. I don't like his solos. I don't really like his "style" if you could call it that.

However, my absolute favorite part of this week was the guys routine last night. That was the best group routine I've seen so far. That Nigel is one talented choreographer - who knew?! Wasn't really wowed by Mia's routine this time.

I stand by my ratings as well, with Chelsie and Katee being the top two overall, followed very closely by Will and then Joshua. Joshua has proven himself to be the most versatile I think, even out of the girls. I feel like he could get up on stage one day and do a solo that isn't hip-hop and he'd still be amazing.

I LOVED Nigel's choreography, and the guys totally pulled it off. I disagree about Mia's though. I thought her whole "fallen angels" thing was intense and the girls did it incredibly. I was pissed at the camera man though. Clearly the camera only showed Katee the whole time. It was a solo, the other girls could have not shown up and it would have been the same performance. Comfort, Kherington and Courtney weren't shown at all, and Chelsie was given closeups like once or twice. The producers know who they want to be popular.

Maybe it's just because I'm not a huge fan of Ave Maria. I think it would've been more beautiful to a more moving piece of music.

But I tend to disagree about the camera... though I don't recall seeing Courtney up close at all, I do recall seeing Comfort, Kherington and Chelsie up close (I remember because I didn't recognize Kherington with the long hair) and plenty of full shots with all 5 of them. That's how I like group routines to be, I like to be able to see it as a whole because they're usually so intricate. I think, yes, they did favor Katee, but I don't think they completely ignored the others.

For Munchkin (and everyone else):
http://entertainment.webshots.com/photo/1487168170057142469aGkWHY

I went by Bloomies to look at the displays (I forgot my camera, though, but I found pics) and honestly...they sucked.

By way of window displays, they sucked, and in terms of expressing RENT, they sucked even more.

I thought they would have created more of an environment, hearken back to the good ole days in Alphabet City when you couldn't walk down Ave. D without getting raped, jumped or killed. I suppose it wouldn't really be financially savvy, but nevertheless if I were designing them I would've stuffed them with exposed brick, posters, graffiti and fire escapes. But alas, no. A mishmash of the movie poster and stale mannequins. What a disappointment...and what a way to go.

I thought I was all better, but I'm all sick from my mono again and I have a super bad sinus infection. Anywho, I've been sick in bed for two weeks now, and I am rediscovering all the tv shows I love but never watch anymore. Will and Grace, Project Runway, Shear Genius, How to Look Good Naked, Rock the Reception, What Not to Wear, Golden Girls, the list goes on!

I'm a little bit scared I've become addicted.

I've been thinking about my weight a lot lately. I think most new moms do... anyways- I have a lot of clothes that I still can't fit back into, which is normal. Even though I'm back at my prepregnancy weight, things shift around a bit. On top of that I've always had "wish" clothes. A shirt, or a pair of jeans... a dress... things that would "motivate" me to lose weight. HA. right?

Well... I've seen how easy it was for me to lose some weight without really trying to... Sure a lot of it came off simply because I had my baby. But the last little bit was simply by changing how I ate. I still didn't eat very well mind you- just less fat. So I came to the decision to actually try and see how I do.

I went from my weight at the end of my pregnancy so that I will *stay* motivated by seeing a good number started. I was 309 right before I had Alannah, and I'd like to get down to 200. That's my longterm-shortterm goal. Ideally I should be smaller than 200 but that seems to be more managable right now. My goal time frame would be by Alannah's 1st birthday. Wish me luck and give me advice!
Tomorrow I'm going to start making use of her stroller. I've used it once since she was born.

EDIT: because html doesn't wanna work. I forgot that. I don't think my ticker will automatically update now, but that's ok.

Good for you Minxy! That's awesome. I know you can do it! Here's a couple pieces of advice if you want them. If you can afford it, try joining Weight Watchers, or the like. I've never actually been one for it, but my cousin does it and she's lost about 15-20 pounds on it. They have a variety of different plans so you can find the one that works for you.

Also, try some gentle exercising. Of course, I recommend yoga, but there are any number of things you could try. There are a lot of videos out on you tube and also On Demand (if you have it). Most of them are beginner and they're short too. The key is to do shorter workouts more times a week to keep your heart rate and metabolism up. If all else fails, there's one thing that a lot of people count on. WALKING! That's easy enough for you with the baby. I find that I can't lose weight easily just by walking, but a lot of people do.

GOOD LUCK!

Minxy the Weight Watchers thing is a good idea because it teaches you how to eat right. A lot of times you can find thier points books on ebay or at used bookstores. Even if you don't join and do the whole plan, you can follow a points per day scale. The book has a lot of the fast food chains in it like Jack in the Box and Taco Bell etc. Good luck with everything!

I disagree about Weight Watchers. I don't think it teaches you to eat right, I think it teaches you to eat not enough. Weight watchers is a lifetime commitment if you want to keep off the weight because it goes back immediately if you stray from the diet. I would much more recommend that you look at the things you eat and just eat better portions and healthier choices. You can create a healthy lifestyle that you can stick to more easily if you decide on your food for yourself.

I don't like Weightwatchers because you have to count points for everything, including fruit. So, at the end of the day if you have points left you're far more likely to use them on chocolate/crisps/alcohol than fruit.

Slimming World is better.

That's why I said that Weight Watchers has different plans. The one my cousin is on is NOT the points system. I agree that the points system is crap because you eat anything (good or bad) and have to count calories. Instead, she's on what they call the CORE plan, which is a set meal plan of foods that are actually better for you.

I got to watch it last night. I wasn't crazy about Mark and Comfort's hip-hop. I mean, it was good, but certainly not amazing. I did love, however, Katee and Twitch's contemporary. I was pleasantly surprised with it. Though I have to say, as entertaining as it was, there wasn't an awful lot of dancing. Their Broadway was great too. Other than that, the only routine that stood out was Joshua and Chelsie's disco, and I hate disco. But I thought it was good.

Congrats, FlyingMonkey! And happy birthday.

An optometrist might, Matt. Or possibly you could find a pair of really low-magnification reading glasses, though I don't know how weak they go.

(I wanted glasses for a while too, but I thought my vision was fine... and then I almost failed the eye exam on my permit test. So yeah, now I have them. Random story.)
