I've decided as of last night to handwrite all my music as a composer. I've officially written 9 pages of the 21 part score to my Requiem.

'K. I had to make sure my brain wasn't making things up. The only reason I asked is because I have a friend who was recently in Florida too, and her initials are CB and she plays clarinet. Creepyish.

Yero, did you hear the Project Runway news? The show's moving to Lifetime. Not quite sure how I feel about that yet.

YES! I can't take it. I love Lifetime, but PR belongs on Bravo.

Good news, though, they signed a FIVE YEaR CONTRACt! So as long as the ratings are high, I'll have the opportunity to audition finally!!!!!!! YAY!

And The Golden girls are leaving Lifetime, too. Can't take it!

Yay, I got the job. I'm not going to start until either the middle of summer or the begining to the next school year but I'm still really excited. I'm going to train for it and they said that the job would always be there for me. That made me feel good.

That sounds like a perfect job! Why can I never manage to get things like that?

I couldn't decide whether my little story was a rant or a rave so it's going here instead.

A few weeks ago (four, to be exact) The Wedding Singer was in Newcastle and I went to see it 4 times (monday-thursday - I was going home for Easter on friday so I couldn't see it again, much as I wanted to!). The reason I went so much was this guy, Simon Lipkin, who used to be in Avenue Q, was Sammy. He's amazing. He's a great singer and actor and he's hot and he's lovely and funny to talk to. Generally perfect, apart from the smoking.
Anyway, I reviewed each show on a fan site set up for him. I got a bit carried away and wrote loads about each show, and what I didn't realise at the time was that he actually reads the site! I was thinking I could let out my inner fangirl and he'd never know who I was.
The first day I went to the show I sat on the front row and stared at him a lot, and he definitely saw me (the waving during the finale was the giveaway). The second day I talked to him at the stage door. The third day I sat further back and slightly attempted to diguise myself but apparently he spotted me anyway (by this point I was being recognised by the guy selling merchandise). The fourth day I walked past him on my way home, but didn't think he'd noticed me. He did. I know this because after reading my insane reviews he sent an email to the person who set the site up (who I talk to a lot on Facebook) and told her he'd seen me every day even though I didn't think he had! He also said he was disappointed not to spot me on the last 2 days so she explained about me having to go home for Easter.

So basically he now knows exactly who I am, remembers me (he picked my picture out of a few that are on the site from when he was in Q) and thinks I'm a bit of an idiot for spending all my money on the show when I can barely afford to live at the best of times!

I'm a bit embarrassed. If I ever see him again I'll be mortified. So I'm wondering whether to make a huge joke out of the whole thing so he doesn't get scared of me and send him a card... they've changed his lines in the show since I saw it so he now works at McDonalds instead of the Orange Julius so I was thinking about sending a "good luck in your new job" card and signing it from "your insane stalker in Newcastle" or something. But I don't know whether that would just scare him more!!

I'm just embarrassed and this is getting ridiculous. I'd like the ground to swallow me now.

Oh, and to make it a bit worse his girlfriend is in Hairspray with my friend's cousin, and I *think* he may know about that connection.

Wow, that was long. Sorry. I'm going a bit crazy here!

No wories, munchkin. I doubt you're the only one. That's kind of amazing, actually... I know if anything like that ever happened to me I'd be freaking out just as much.

I doubt it would scare him if you sent him a card, if he was disappointed not to see you those two days, though the "insane stalker" part might be a bit much.

Did you know that if you type the word "bandroom" it kind of makes your fingers go crazy? Or at least it does for me. I think I must have typed it at some point today. I cannot spell to save my life. Rrgh.

munchkin, you're so funny. i wouldnt freak out too much. if it were me, i would probably just post a reply on the fansite saying something like "if i freaked out, i apologize. i just think you're very talented and a great person to boot. hope to see more of your shows in the future."

sound good?

It still throws of my daily TV schedule. Now what am I going to watch between Frasier and The Nanny?

That's so much more sensible than my idea. Thanks!

The one good thing in all this is that he doesn't know I am the person who asked him to sign a picture of someone else the first time I met him (I was very confused, it's a long story). When asked in an interview what the most bizarre thing was he'd ever been asked to sign... yeah, it was that picture. So if he ever finds out that was me, I will just have to disappear off the face of the planet!

***

On a completely unrelated note, does anyone think it may be a good idea to start a General Chinwagging Sequel? We're getting a lot of pages here, and R&R went crazy later in it's life.

Since you asked. This is not a story I tell often. And I think you know who these people are which makes it worse!

So the first time I saw Avenue Q last July I went to the stage door after. Although I knew pretty much everyting about the show before I went I wasn't familiar with the London cast, but I had a photocopy of a picture from a magazine which showed Jon Robyns naked in bed with Rod, and I wanted to get him to sign it! Because it was photocopied the picture was very dark and it honestly did look like a scary mixture of Jon and Simon (I still think it does).
Simon was the first person to appear and I was really hyper from seeing the show and confused as to who played which puppet and I became convinced that this picture I had was Simon! So I asked him to sign it. He gave me a really crazy look and said, "I can't believe you're asking me to sign a picture of my friend naked in bed!" and then wrote 'gay' and drew an arrow pointing to Jon, and then went, "he's not, by the way." And then he signed it and walked off looking totally bemused.

The thing is, even after that and my friend telling me it wasn't the same person I still thought it was! We saw the show again two days later and half way through If You Were Gay I suddenly went, "ooooh.... shit."

So that was my first embarrassing Lipkin experience. If I had known then it would only get worse I would probably have tried to forget he even existed! The one time I did talk to him after The Wedding Singer my friend came across as more insane than me, but then I ruined it by being spotted at all those shows...

We're still a ways off from GC going crazy, I think. I think we should hold off on the new thread until this one can't stand any more posts.

But... maybe that's an issue for the MT thred?

Omigosh. I just learned that my uncle lived in an apartment with Jonathan Larson (the guy who wrote RENT) while he was writing RENT! They even describe the apartment on Wikipedia!

"Larson moved to a loft with no heat on the fifth floor of a building at the corner of Greenwich Street and Spring Street in Lower Manhattan where he lived with various roommates, among them Greg Beals, a journalist for Newsweek magazine and the brother of actress Jennifer Beals and James Clunie, now a creative director at advertising agency BBDO, from whom the character Roger is loosely based. Shared with his two cats, Finster and Lucy, the apartment had a carpeted kitchen with the apartment's only bathtub in the corner. From here, he held auditions for his cast. For about ten years Larson worked as a waiter at the Moondance Diner during weekends, and worked on composing and writing musicals during the weekdays. At the diner Larson later met Jesse L. Martin, who was his waiting trainee and later would perform the role of Tom Collins in the original cast of Larson's Rent. Larson and his roommates lived in harsh conditions with little money or property."

-Wikipedia

Lol, their only bathtub was in the kitchen...my uncle had some pretty weird stories to tell about that bathtub.

Another funny story I found out-when my other uncle was staying at their apartment for a weekend, he slept on Jonathan Larson's bed because Larson wasn't there. During the night, he started thumbing through Larson's books and found a photo of his girlfriend stark naked in one of the them^^

Part a rant, part a rave.

Mom was going to drive us to my prenatal class tonight but as she was backing out of the driveway her car stalled and sounded like something dropped. She restarts her car and backs up some more and I point out that there is a light on her dash that says "Charge Battery". So she turns the car off again and gets out to grab her jumper cables out of the Blaze just in case. After starting the car again she realizes that she doesn't have any power steering.

Lovely.

So we jump in my car and head to my class and I call my friend Brad. I leave him a voicemail explaining whats going on and told him I'd try to talk to him when I got out of class. He sends me a text saying that he's stuck at work (in Springfield, and he and I work at the same place) because he doesn't have enough gas to make it home. He thought I was in Springfield to take my classes so he was wondering if he and his gf could catch a ride home. During our break I call him and explain that I'm still in Bolivar but that if he could make it to a gas station I could give him enough money to make it home. Also we discuss Mom's car and he thinks that it should be a $20, 30 minute fix. I love this boy.

So class ends (it actually went well!) and I drop mom off at home and take off to Springfield. I call Cory (new boy I just met... kinda talking to... kinda... I dunno.) He answers with "Hi Sexy!" mmm melt. Anyways, after I told him what was going on he asked what I would be doing after I saved Brad's ass. I had to go home because Mom needs to borrow my car to go pick up her bf tomorrow sometime. I don't even like the asshole. GR. Otherwise I could have gone and had cuddles tonight.

Finally on my way home I get a call from Cory. He was actually trying to get through to his brother but hit the wrong number on his missed call list. He said, "well I like this wrong number better anyways."

Sigh...

I'm on a serious annotation kick right now, so I've decided to reread Wicked and annotate as I go. I took my crappy edition (with the musical cover) and have been writing my thoughts in the margin and underlining key things and the like. I just finished the munchkinland beginning section, and it was absolutely amazing when I was writing. I didn't like that section the other times I read it.

I think I'm going to get a lot more out of it this time around.

I've been wanting to do that to the whole book for years now. Ever since my dialectical journal days of AP English in high school.

We should do that as a group. Start the book one place and then just mail it from person to person adding things as we go. Maybe couple it with a notebook or something.

I think I'm going to do that too though... because you've just started to fulfil a dream I've had for a long time now.

It's going extremely well, and I think it's going to be very worthwhile. It's much more emotional draining when you really analyze it though... I've had to pace myself to keep from getting to upset by it.
