It sounded like you were trying to say something like "I am indifferent to the woman's death" or perhaps "I shall obstain from becoming too involved in discussions concerning the woman's death."

Anyway, some other people need to have a go at my joke--otherwise I feel a fool with that seemingly off-color question just hanging there.

Gah! It is not your fault, but you didn't have to be clever when it came to answering this joke.

Usually people either try feebly to guess something clever, or are just stumped, and after some minutes the answer is technically given as:

A pilot, you fucking racists!

So, congratulations, Bookwoman, you are not a racist.

Ha ha, that is good news. Actually, it reminded me of that "brain teaser" where the boy and his father are in a car accident, and the father is killed, and while the boy is in surgery, the surgeon says, "I cannot perform surgery on this boy, he is my son" and most people are usually confused because they never think about the fact that a surgeon could ever be a woman and therefore the boy's mother. Anyway, that's what came to mind when i read your joke, so I decided to give the obvious answer....

I saw the most horrible thing in Wal Mart today. Rachel and I went back to pick up fish food and look into talking to a clerk about how to care for our rapidly growing baby fish. Well in the back there was a sign saying "all fish 50% off" and the fish tanks will filled with either dead or dying fish. They were anywhere from half full to having little less than an inch of water in them. And the tanks were grimy with slime and debris. One poor fish was trapped beneath a broken filter in a half an inch of water. I wanted to scream at one of the associates to DO SOMETHING about it.

why was today amazing St A?

today was a milestone day for me. after 4 years, i finally started telling my mother how i've been feeling about her leaving us. i sent her an email with a bunch of stuff about what she did and how i'm angry at her and everything. it barely scratched the surface, but its a start.

Well, for everyone else, this probably sounds really stupid. But I had my favorite teacher full out apologize to me - because I asked him why he made fun of my opinions all the time - and he said it was because they were actually good and sparked discussion, and such and such and such. And he told me was sorry like four times.

So that made me really happy.

(And we listend to 80's music and sang along to American Pie.. plus, we watched a really good video on Cosimo Medici and the Medici Dynasty.)

Basically, just a nice day.

And Helen, that is really really REALLY good, what you did.

For those of you who have pets and haven't heard about this, there's a major recall on dog and cat food due to some unknown ingredient that is causing renal(kidney) damage and/or death. The link below lists all of the brands that are being pulled. It's also updated frequently so it's good to check up on it every so often.

I am proud to say that I do not use any of the products mentioned on that list. I'm glad my loyalty is to Purina. Thanks for posting this though. I was scared for a minute.

I didn't want to start a whole new topic for this so I thought I'd just, you know, throw it out there... Is Fiyero's surname mentioned anywhere in the book? I've got it into my head that it is but I can't find it, and I feel like I know it and it's on the tip of my tongue! The reason I ask is that in the muscial they use a surname which, to me, sounds ridiculous. I can't make out what it's supposed to be, but it bugs me every time.

I believe it is something along the lines of:

Prince Fiyero of the Arjiki Tribe in the Vinkus.

No surrname, just a title.
