Oh dear. I've spent the whole day with ABBA's 'Waterloo' in my head, only with the title word replaced by 'Ugabu'. I blame this squarely on Acey for bringing up the Eurovision Song Contest. Oh well, at least it wasn't 'Makin' Your Mind Up'. Aaaaaaaaaaargh! Now see what you've done!

Oh, and missnikkaphon, just read your post... I'm not sure I did catch the reference. Explain it to me please (I will hang my head in shame at my ignorance...)!

Will we get new lyrics? *grins*

The Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde. Read them. They're hilarious - and they've even got, like, ads in them for items used inside. One of them has Danish books being burned...there's a burn rating on the inside cover, how easily burned the book is...yeah. His website's excellent as well. Like, totally completely hilarious for anyone who's read the books and a bit bizarre otherwise. There are pop-ups advertising a store...and they actually lead to a proper page where you can buy reengineered dodos and stuff...ha.

Anyway. Read the books. They're wonderful. He's one of my favorite authors, and he's got himself publishing at least a book a year. *anticipation*

Haha, wow, I'm gonna have to find that guy's books XD Speaking of books, Jilly Cooper has apparently published a novel called "Wicked!". This has nothing to do with Actual!Wicked, but it DID make me stop dead in the street and back up to look in bemusement at the sandwich board advertising it.

The end.

I'll definitely check them out, although I'm supoposed to be applying myself to working today...!

I'll have a go at writing some lyrics to Ugabu/Waterloo', though doing 'These Ruby Shoes Are Made For Walkin'' on the last page kind of took it out of me! Any ideas for other dumb songs I can spoof? Maybe I should move them all to a new thread where I can indulge my addled brain without getting in anyone's way!

As I threatened/promised, I have rather foolhardily tried to set the word 'Ugabu' to the tune of ABBA's waterloo, which has been lodged in my head all day. It's kind of difficult to write a song about a place where b*gger-all happens, but here goes. Oh, to be sung at Ozvision by Liir, Candle, Trism, Nor and the goat. In neon lycra jumpsuits, obviously.

My, my, this Ugabu, it seems that nothing happens here;
Oh, yeah! I can't quite work out why it appears
On the map that G.M. drew of Oz.
It seems quite superfluous 'cos

Ugabu! It's surrounded by mountains and desert sand!
Ugabu! What is the point of this pointless land!
Ugabu! It's full of nothing but sand and rocks!
Ugabu! Not even as thrilling as Ix or Quox!
Ugabu! What is the point of you, Ugabu?

My, my! But what if you read allegorically?
Oh yeah! Perhaps you see Ugabu metaphorically!
If Acey's theory is right,
I see Ugabu in a new light:

Ugabu! Though you have one of the daftest names,
Ugabu! The key's in the wording 'disputed claims'!
Ugabu! Stuck way up there in the Winkie highland,
Ugabu! You're just a metaphor for Northern Ireland!
Ugabu! That is the point of you, Ugabu.

okay WOW! there is so much to comment on since ive been gone!! i cant comment on it all though. so ill brief you on my weekend,

went to new brunswick (NB) for my sisters university graduation. it was outside on a BEAUTIFUL day and i got a sun burn on my face, neck, knees and arms. its the most colour my skin has gotten in about 5 years. i am pasty and i am proud!!
i met my sisters boyfriend, he is very cool and has lots of stories.
the drive there and back was long! although shorter on the way back because my little sister drove and she is a speedy gonzalez (sp?).

so overall it was a good weekend. i have alot of crap to do!! i have to enroll and complete my (failed) accounting class online in the next month so i can graduate with my class. i have to go "house" hunting on the 19th with my boyfriend . not a house, we'll probably get an apartment, but you get the point. i am very excited for that! and i have to email all the travel agencies in that area (where i am moving in with my boyfriend) to see if they love me enough to hire me!! ahh!! so much to do!!

i have to admit, i am NOT feeling very confident in my ability to get a job. a big part of being a travel agent is SALES. and i dont think my sales skills are up to par. but i have decided that i will make my family play pretend with me so i can practice selling vacations to people!!

i hope you all had a good weekend! i'm going to go chek out the rest of the threads.

(i apologize for my typing and spelling tonight. i did try to stop the chatspeak though; words like 'cuz' and such. if one or two slipped in, i am sorry)

My earrings are oval ish, on the outside, they have blue, green and gold small beads, and then 5 large gold, blue, and green beads hanging on the bottom. On t he inside, there are 2 chains across the earring, (horizantal) and they have one green bead, and one gold bead hanging down. *puts earring back in*

so...here is a little story for everyone.

i have a dog. her name is Rosie. she is cute and beautiful and sexy and she KNOWS it! she uses her looks to get what she wants...what a whore-dog! anyway!! as i think i have said before, my family moved houses and we now live in the province of Quebec! well, in out quaint (sp?) little neighborhood here we have so very nice and very INTERESTING neighbors. Since it a nice area and our dog has gotten to know everyone, we let her roam around sometimes. Queue story!!

one of our neighbors, we'll call him Ray, is quite the character. he is about 60 years, tall and skinny and a HUGE pothead! i dont have anything against people smoking pot, but i personally have chosen to never touch the stuff. its a personal choice and i dont care if any of choose to smoke pot, makes no difference to me! anyway! so one day, before i moved back here after school was done, Rosie went over to visit Ray. Don't worry, he doesn't get her high! so Rosie went to see Ray and when she came back, she was wearing a RED bandana around her neck. it didn't seem to bother her at all and i must say, she looked very cute! the next day she went to visit Ray and she came back with a YELLOW bandana around her neck! when i moved in, she was wearing a BLUE one. the next day, after coming back from Ray's place, she had one a BLACK bandana. then it mysteriously switched bacl to BLUE. she had the BLUE one on when we went to new brunswick this weekend. when we got back, she went to visit Ray and came back with a GREY one around her neck! Last night she went over to see Ray and walked back to our place sporting a GREEN bandana!
Its just funny because she disappears for a while then mysteriously comes back wearing a different bandana! Whenever Ray changes Rosie's bandana, she comes trotting baclk home and searches for me, my sister or my Dad so she show of her new colour. once we have complimented her, she trots away again to do her own thing! Rosie is a dog with alot of personality! I dont have any pictures of her wearing one her fancy bandanas yet, but I will post a picture of Rosie at the bottom of this post so you can all see what she looks like. I am going to start taking a picture of her everytime her bandana changes.
So that's my little random story! Hope it made you smile a bit!

Not the greatest picture, but there you go!

PS: You should all put pictures of your pets up here, just for the hell of it!

Awwwwww, Helen your dog is ADORABLE. I'm sorry, but I'm an animal freak, especially for dogs. Is she a mixed breed? She looks like she has some golden retriever in her. She's a cutie. I want to hug her.

I don't have a dog anymore, but I do have a cat that thinks he's a dog. He's wonderful. His name is Sam, and he's black with humongous yellow eyes. He chases his tail, but he does it on the stairs that lead up to our second floor, so he ends up tumbling down and then makes it seem like he meant to do that. He also meows in question. For example, when he walks up to you, he'll make a sound like "mmeeoww?" hehe...

Pets are awesome.

ha ha, yes, Rosie is mostly golden retiever. she is 3/4 golden and 1/4 german sheppard, although i have yet to find any sheppard qualities in her. she is VERY small considering her mix. here is a picture so you can sort of see more of actual size. don't know if it'll help at all.

*awww* she's so CUTE!

This is my dog, his name is Roscoe. As you can see, he is inhabiting my bed, which he frequently does, not that I mind, it's a huge bed.

I love him.

Anyway, for my random story.
SOoo. we had our orchestra concert last night and all, and one of the band's songs was "the Veggie Tale's theme song" (And my sister Becky, whose 22 was there)

Becky: "I've never heard this.."
Mom: "It was after your time Beck."
Becky: "But still, I think I would have heard of it.. Vegtables?"
Mom: "Veggies singing christan bible stories..."
Becky: "ohhh...."

It was really random, then Becky and I went to - of all places - starbucks And got some cookies and it was good.

- yay smilies! -

I wanna show you guys picutres of my puppies too... and my kitty.

^That is Sadie right now she's curled up on the couch with her head on my lap. She's really loving like that.

^That is Murphy, I tried to take a new picture of him but I couldn't get him to stand still, and he had about 12 socks in his mouth.

^ That's FatPuppy, not such a good picture of him but he's old so it's alright.

^ And this is my cat. Half the household calls her "Angel" and half the household calls her "Maggie" so somehow her name has hybrided into the nickname "Angel-Mag" but most of the time we just look at her and say "Kitty!"

Remember how I said I like to buy things for myself when I'm having a bad day?
I think I went overboard this time and spent 430$$$ on a new video iPOD thingy...
And they allow FREE laser engraving, so I got put on the back

"Smile
Tho' Your Heart Is Aching"

Don't get me wrong. I'm sure I'll enjoy my little gift to myself. But why'd I have to spend 430$?
*sigh*
That bridge is looking very tempting.

Much Hugs

Yay. I love the dogs! I will have to try and post one of mine when I'm not at work. I have a 4 year old beagle and just got another puppy last weekend. So my house has gone to the dogs. Not as much as LLK's has though. What type of dog do you have SaintA? It looks like a laberdoodle(sp?)

Lol... he really does always have lots of socks in his mouth. And if you try to feed him a treat or something he gets confused because he wants the treat but he doesn't want to put the socks down. Or whatever it is... you can throw a stick for him and when he fetches it he'll keep the tennis ball or whatever he already had in his mouth for as long as he can...

I have the Complete Symphonic recording... So mine's actually a mixed bag, I guess most of the cast recorded the songs all separately, and weren't even with each other most of the time. Shocking really, I love this recording.

And LLK, you're dog FatPuppy reminds me of my first dog. He was a samoyed named Maiko, but I don't have any pictures of him on here.

Don't get me wrong. I'm sure I'll enjoy my little gift to myself. But why'd I have to spend 430$?

That bridge is looking very tempting.

The question is: you actually had 403 dollars to spend on that? Lucky ducky I wish I had that kinda money everytime I felt like crap... hmm that seems to happen frequently towards the end of the school year.

Boo you (insert rest of Mean Girls quote here)! You are graduating, so don't even pretend to be depressed! I couldn't wait to get out of 8th grade.
