Alright, I noticed that there was another discussion about the attractiveness of NLB. I'm with St. A and Scarecrow, while he may not be the typical kind of attractive, his voice adds like 10,000 sexy points.

And in this picture, look at how cute he is!

Yero the Hero would look hot in eyeliner, and I have proof if you use some imagination.

Eyeliner? I'm not in the Rocky Horror Picture Show. And, yeah, Norbert looks hot in that picture, but everybody has their glamour shots. When he wakes up in the morning after a night of partying, I'm sure we would all (except scarecrow) be covering our eyes.

Well, but most of us look really bad after a night of partying and everyone would be covering their eyes. So this is not really Norbert's fault. But I must agree, he is not exactly a stud.

ahh but we must ignore that.

And point out that no. one. can. duplicate her.

Funny story actually. Did you know that one of original story subplots for the movie was Dorothy was to have had an 'affair' with the man playing the scarecrow.
And conciendentaly, Garland, married the man's son who played the scarecrow.

and her daughter (Liza Minielli) boycotted covering Over the Rainbow. Her response: It's been done.

I'm intrigued... how does one "tie" ones chest down? All I'm coming up with is horrible bondage/S&M imagery...

Francis Gum! You found out her secret! What a horrible name...

And no, The original tinman didn't die, he almost did. He was on the Beverly hillbillies!

If you want a real treat, Aunt em took sleeping pills and covered her head in a plastic bag !

No, I thought in the movie Dorothy not Judy was supposed to be 12. Maybe I'm wrong. They should have just cast me, there'd be nothing to tie down. I'm rather flat.

Haha, I knew what she meant. I just thought it funny that she said "tied". I pictured rope or something. Wouldn't do much.

Very briefly, as I'm touring and tired, Ray Bolger was originally asked to play the Tin-Man in the film 'The Wizard of Oz'. He turned it down, saying "but I'm not tin; I'm fluid!", and took the role of the Scarecrow instead. Buddy Ebsen was the original Tin Man but had an allergic reaction to the aluminium (or aluminum, you crazy Yanks!)in the silver make-up. He was replaced by Jack Haley, although you can still hear Ebsen's voice in the recording of 'We're Off To See The Wizard'. Ebsen only played the role at the St Louis Municipal Opera who, in 1942 (I think) did the first stage version using the Arlen/Harburg songs from the movie. The idea was not really tackled again professionally until John Kane and the RSC performed a stage version of the movie in 1987. And Garland (nee Francis Ethel Gumm) was only the second choice for the movie after Shirley Temple, and Arlen and Harburg only came on board to write the songs after Jerome Kern, Ira Gershwin and Dorothy Fields had either declined or been passed over. Garland was born in 1922; the movie premiered in 1939, so she would have been 16/17 when filming, and her Dorothy is evidently considerably older than Baum's. Oh, and binding one's breasts is a fairly common practice for women playing child or male roles. I've no idea how uncomfortable it is. I'm don't have boobies, so I couldn't tell you!
NMG (or female ones, come to that)

K, guys, I feel a bit bad that there's no more war, and though I'm leaving again now, I announce that GASP. The war of the hot men versus the hot women is officially unpaused! Yay!

I've got class, so now I must run. The war is officially repaused at 10:14 Board-time. Which is, like, Eastern Standard? I think.
