Facebook is a community, kind of like a myspace, but it's a collection of colleges. So you join under the college you attend(ed) and then you form a profile for it. Though, now I think they have extended it to high schoolers as well. But you can only join if your school is a part of their community. It's fun. It's actually a nice (and safer) way to meet up with people you haven't spoken with in a while. And it's not annoying like Myspace. The end. IP: Logged

But my profile is only open to be read by people that attended my school, or that I'm friends with from other schools. If I posted the link on her to my facebook page, none of you would be able to access it because you don't have permission. So that's how it differs. You control who sees your profile. And you can block specific people, so if they search for your name, you don't exist to them. So your friend wouldn't get stalked if she had her privacy settings set up to only allow members of her school to view her profile. Also, it could be viewed by only people that you are "friends" with. And you have to approve someone as your friend before they are added to that list. Am I making sense? It's actually much safer than Myspace if you know how to work it. Like I don't feel unsafe at all, because it's only open to be seen by members of my school, or people who I am friends with. But facebook is still a tool, (Can a website be a tool?) because they just want to be as cool as they think myspace is, so they added high school to it. I thought facebook was a cool college thing, and when I get to college, I'm sure I won't want a bunch of whiney teens on facebook. Myspace is horribly dumb anyway. But I honestly don't think it's the websites fault that so many teen girls have absolutely no brains. They are complete idiots, and I believe they deserve to be kicked off the internet forever. It was just a cool college thing, then I think they felt they needed to compete with myspace, so they extended it to high schools.
