I looked up AELPHABA.

SAINT AELPHABA, SAINT ELPHABA, "Saint Aelphaba of the waterfall", "Saint aelphaba from Gregory Maguire's Wicked" all got NOTHING.

I love Jane Austin.. movies... books were LONG and tedious...

Hmmmm. I agree with you in part. I don't understand why Jane Austen has gained this huge reputation as the number one female writer of the period. If you can get it in the US, you might prefer 'The Female Quixote' by Charlotte Lennox, which is from the same period. It's about a girl who has led such a clositered life, and read so many heroic romances, when she's finally released into theb world, she has no idea how to act like a lady, and charges around like a knight errant, like an eighteenth century ladette. If you want to give Jane Austen another go, try 'Love and Friendship', her collected (very short) stories: there's an excellent one that takes the p*ss out of all her other books, with a girl who constantly swoons and faints to get whatever she wants from men!

Oh, and if you're more musically minded there is a long forgotten musical version of 'Pride and Prejudice'called 'First Impressions' (the original title for JA's book). Pretty awful, but it might give you a laugh if you can find it. It's especially entertaining if you're English, to hear Farley Granger (with all the charisma of plywood) playing Mr Darcy with a Yankee accent...

I suppose having been on here long enough to have had a good nose at everyone else's photos, I ought to put one of me here. I'm too idle to scan a recent one at the minute, but if you're half as nosy as I am, and you really have nothing better to do, there is one (a couple of years old of me) at (deep breath while I type it in its entirety)
http://groups.msn.com/bloodbrothersonline/helensphotos.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=327

I'm the boy. Not really sure who the girl is. I'm guessing she's called Helen, though...

Hope (for those of with enough curiosity/time on your hands to try it) it works!

If you look very carefully in the picture you can just see the ostrich plumes on the top of my Regency fan.

Eurgh, that sounded like a line from 'Carry On, Don't Lose Your Head'.

Oh, they know EVERYONE'S names in the shows they go to see, because they buy programmes and make you sign them. I'm sure if you were to google my name, or an awful lot of others, hard enough (which I don't suggest you do) you'd come up with enough personal details to make like you'd known that person for the best part of their lives. Ain't the internet scary...

Oh, and by the way, I made the Queen of Quox up. As in the Baum story, the post is vacant. Quox is an absolute monarchy, and I won't have any power sharing.

Yeah, I turned the computer monitor sideways to try and read her shirt...but it didn't work.

I wouldn't mind if you took a picture of it like, lying out flat or something, but I'm sure Helen would prefer it if it was still on. *grins*

The playing age on my CV is 20-30. That's all I'm prepared to say! Oh, and it just means that I made up the Queen of Quox (ie. I'm not married or partnered up). There is a Baum story called 'The Queen of Quok' in which a King is (nearly) forced to get married for various convoluted reasons. It was a wanky acedemic joke... Why do you want to know my age?
