Ok, I have not seen the play yet (April 8th!)... although, I have seen clips and I have read the Grimmerie numerous times (not to mention the 24/7 play of the CD). But I'm curious... does anyone have any funny Wicked quotes? My friend told me this one: Glinda: You're still riding that old thing? Any others? I'm just curious... As that above one made me laugh! That is one of my favorite quotes from the musical!! If you don't mind me correcting you just a tad, the line is "Well we can't all come and go by bubble!!". It's one of my favorite lines in the whole musical! I could give you tons of other quotes that I think are hilarious... but I agree with OvertheMoonforIM... they are so much funnier when you don't know what's coming! IP: Logged |

Ah best one ever was the yellow brick road one: "Yes dear, just follow that one road the whole time.. oh I hope she doesn't get lost I'm just terrible at giving to directions!" "Oh give the girl her shoes back Elphie, and that dog - dodo?" "LET THE GREEN GIRL GO!" (I'm a jew that line cracked me up..) "sir, theres a goat on the lamb." (god that took me a day to understand it but it is so funny.) "so you lied to them?" IP: Logged |

What does being a jew have to do w/ that line? I think the best lines are the political ones: "I can't harbor a fugitive, I'm an unelected official!"-Nessarose "Well... a regime change. Caused by a bizarre and unexpected twister of fate."-Glinda And, altough not poliical.... "It's good to see me, isn't it? No need to answer, that was retorical."-Glinda IP: Logged |

"Elphaba, we used to believe everything that wasnt true, we call it history." Thats in wonderful i think i thought it was pretty funny (you guys took all of the other ones that i like! lol I like "let the green girl go" too along with the bubble one, glindas directions, and alot more! But the musical is pretty political like on the left wing side, which i like cause me being a democrat myself i thought it was funny... IP: Logged |

quote: Okay, I don't want to sound rude, but, I think it was a big mistake to read the grimmerie and listen to the CD before you see the show. What made wicked so special for me was that it was fresh and new; if you see the show now, you'll know almost everything. Not to say that you shouldn't like Wicked or listen to the CD, but, maybe it would have been better to see the show first. Just a a thought. IP: Logged |

quote: Nay, you're not rude @ all! Well, see, I most likely wouldn't have gotten into Wicked if I hadn't heard the CD @ my best friends house. She had it on and I asked her, "What is this? It's really good." And she told me, and the second I Got home I downloaded it off of iTunes. If I hadn't heard it, I wouldn't have gotten into it @ all. Then, my friend Mike started to show me clips of all the different Elphaba's and such, then he got me the Grimmerie for Christmas and I read it. He had already spoiled it for me by telling me the plot and stuff. But that's how I get into plays, it's how I got into "42nd Street" and "Rent" and "Chicago." But I'm such a ding-dong sometimes, I'll go see it and be utterly surprised... I'm just odd like that IP: Logged |

I read the book and heard the music before I saw the show for the first time. I didn't know the ending or how certain plot lines came about. It was still great. Yet, I wouldn't have wanted to know the whole script or quotes. IP: Logged |

Now wait just a clock tick! I know it may be difficult for that blissful, blonde brain of yours to comprehend that someone like him could actually choose someone like me! But it's happened... it's real. And you can wave that ridiculous wand all you want, you can't change it! He never belonged to you, he doesn't love you, and he never did! I know the show, pretty much, backwards and frontwards. And I have never seen it, and even though I know the show so well... I didn't ruin it for myself.... and I KNOW that. the experience of seeing the show... will be amazing... an experience like I've never had before. i have seen it and seeing it on the internet first did not kill the show for me. lostladyknight is right the stage experience is so much different. it's like you're there. i also know the whole thing forewards and back. sometimes i'll break into song in class or i'll start ttelling people how the book is different from the play. they'll be like "i don't care" and i'll get really mad though.... LoL i guess IP: Logged |

Okay, I don't mind that the post is digressing, but I have a relevant on-topic point that's been bugging me. In San Francisco, there was some great dialogue during "One Short Day" that is no longer in the show. Elphaba: I want to remember this moment... always. Because someday, when we live here, we'll have moments like this all the time. These lines were great. Kristen and Idina delivered them with perfect comic timing. Anyone want to venture as to why they were cut?! IP: Logged |

Saint Aelphaba Moderator |
Well in Chicago Cast. Elphaba walks off for a moment to say: "I want to remeber this moment always, no one is staring, no one is laughing..." "Elphaba come on. we'll be late for wizomania!" (Why did they take it out? the Sanfran thing I mean.) IP: Logged |

Why would they cut those lines? They're brilliant lines! And they add to their bonding friendship as well, no? Also, I know the story backwards and forwards, but not the entire play... I know the differences between the play and the book... Anywho, I'm sorta excited about the Wizards Head... I hear it's brilliant... along w/ the flying scene. Oh, what about "Popular"? Aren't there some funny ones in there? (I've seen the clip on google... but I hear that sometimes there's an extra line or two dropped?) You guys are SO lucky that you have seen the play! *packs bags* Forget Philly, I'm moving to New York! IP: Logged |

lines were cut because the sanfransico run was just a prelude to the newyork run. Many things were changed around after that first initial performance. Just tweaked for the better (perhaps). Most big (new) productions don't just open up on broadway. They are given ''test drives'' in lesser, yet still reputable theathers. IP: Logged |

I like the line where Elphaba and Galinda are talking and Galinda is like "Fiyero and I are going to be married." "He's asked you already?" "He doesn't know yet." That line always makes me laugh. IP: Logged |
