I think we've said this before, but every Elphaba and Glinda have their own interpretation of the play, so not every quote will be exactly the same. Also, the director might like the line to be said differently as well.

My favourite lines in the play are:

M.M: "What a tragically beautiful face you have!"
Elphaba: "I'm the other one. I'm beautifully tragic"

****
And I also like:

E: "Well, what could he get me. I clash with everything" hehehe

Lol my favorite line is:

E: What? What are you all looking at? Do I have something in my teeth... Oh fine we might as well get it over with! No I'm not sea sick! No I did not eat grass as a child! And yes I was born green!

And I love how in Popular how Galinda goes

G: Get up. I'm going to change that ugly frock into a beutiful ball gown! BALL GOWN! Hmmm BALL GOWN! Is this thing on?

E: Can I try?

G: No it's fine that frock looks good on you any way!

My friend told me this one:

Glinda: You're still riding that old thing?
Elphaba: Yea, well, not everyone can travel by bubble!

Any others? I'm just curious... As that above one made me laugh!

Okay, I don't want to sound rude, but, I think it was a big mistake to read the grimmerie and listen to the CD before you see the show. What made wicked so special for me was that it was fresh and new; if you see the show now, you'll know almost everything. Not to say that you shouldn't like Wicked or listen to the CD, but, maybe it would have been better to see the show first. Just a a thought.

So, I realize this is probably extremely old, but I just stumbled upon this forum. I have to say that I completely disagree. I read the book, so I already knew what the music was about, and the music's amazing. Freaking amazing. And because I knew the music, I got horribly excited when I saw the play; when they would start to sing the songs I love, I pretty much convulsed and drooled in my seat with happiness. And when "Defying Gravity" started, one of my friends had to hit me to restrain my joy.

I think hearing the music before you see it enhances the experience because it makes you want to see it more and sing along (although you don't, because hearing the actors sing it is amazing).

My favourite is when Fiyero first comes in. Where is cart driver smashes into Elphaba, I am not sure if it is just in LA or not but

Fiyero [to elphaba]: "Maybe he saw green and thought it meant 'go.'?!"

I saw a video online of one of the performances and he didn't say that. Too bad, that's really funny!

What? What are you all looking at?Oh-do I have something in my teeth? Alright, fine-we might as well get this over with:NO I'M NOT SEASICK;YES,I'VE ALWAYS BEEN GREEN;NO, I DIDN'T EAT GRASS AS A CHILD...and this is my sister Nessarose AND AS YOU CAN SEE SHE'S A PERFECTLY NORMAL COLOR.

I put my favorite parts of the entire line in caps.;D

Wahhh *teargeysers* they took the Wicked script off!!! I guess someone told them it had missing parts. Oh well...at least you can read the Wizard of Oz script to test your self control to not smash your computer because you're so mad at Dorothy for killing Elphie.
Or did she? That was the coolest at the end of the musical!

yay they fixed it. I have a few more:

M.M: Yes, yes, I'm sure your very bright.
Galinda: Bright? She's phosphorescent.

Fiyero: Well, I see that once again the responsibility to corrupt my fellow students falls on me. Fortunately, I'm up to the task.

Elpaba: It's absurd! This silly rich boy appears and everyone's off worshipping him and some cultish social gathering!(I don't think she gets out much)

Elphaba: It was my mother's! Thats all.
Galinda: It's not fair. I told you a really good one.

Fiyero:...You must think I'm really stupid.
Elpaba:No, not really stupid.

When did Fiyero start saying "Maybe he saw green and though it meant go"? I saw a performance of the original cast online(since I haven't been able to see it live yet) and he didn't say that line. Was it added later?

Don't watch it online. What those people are doing is illegal and not to mention poorly filmed. Unless its from a television broadcast on Wicked. It's illegal. They specifically tell you no recording or pictures maybe taken during the performance. It's a danger to the performers, not just from the flash, but the lense can reflect light into the performers eyes.

My parents say I watch too much Law & Order. Would anyone like to ask my lawyer? hehehe

Yeah they did add it later. In the orignl cast pefomance it just showed fiyero arriving at shiz in his cart. They added a whole new dialog. Fiyero does this little handshake with his driver and thats when him and elphaba start talking.

Well, I've done musicals for years. Since I was five. I'm now twenty. Anyways, it's not really dangerous to have lights in the audience. Actors are very focused and don't even notice that sort of stuff. They're focused on their character and the lines and the blocking and so on. And there was only one time in fifteen years that the message did have a point. In one musical, Big, there were two large scaffoldings, and actors standing and sitting on the edge. But this was a high school play, with the most of the cast with ADD or ADHD, and most of them didn't take their meds. So yeah.

As for the whole being illegal thing, I'm so not going to enjoy a show because it's pirated. This gives me a chance to see brilliant performances of a show I love. While I'd be happy to pay for it, I work hard, but I get minimum wage, and the money goes to medical bills, and to help my parents and to pay for my car, and phone. Unforutnate neccessities.

Ok, fine. I should listen to my friends when they call me spaz. It just bugs me because the pictures are usually so crappy. I'm a semi-neat freak.

I know that this one isn't funny, but I think that it's my favorite line in the whole production.

Fiyero: Go ahead, touch, I don't mind. You did the best you could. You saved my life.
Elphaba: You're still beautiful.
Fiyero: You don't have to lie to me.
Elphaba: It's not lying...it's looking at things another way.

So cute!

In the British version instead of Glinda saying "flip flip" In popular she says "Toss toss". This mainly made funny because she tries to get Elphaba to do it, but she's really unifusiastic about it, so it really makes you laugh. I've also seen Kristin's (Is that her name, really sorry if I spelt it wrong... Please don't kill me wicked obsessed fan!) In her last performance she brings out a book called something like "how to be popular". The first one for Elphaba is "shower daily"

" There're just shoes." Glinda. ( it may not sound it when read, but I've seen it delivered prettty well, as thoughher vain spolit nature finds it hard to deminish the importance of shoes!
" I'll show you what shoes to wear, how to fix that hair, everything that really counts!" Glinda
"My room mate is"
"Unuaslly and excently pacuilar and all together quite impossible to descirbe."
"Blonde."

I believe American as well as British Glindas have said "toss toss", but I could be wrong! And congratulotions, you have managed to spell Kristin's name correctly! I'm serious, most folks don't guess right the first time. And yes, I LOVE Kristin's little speech to Elphie on her last performance...it is absolutely hilarious! Here's the quotes I found online:
"I wrote a book, 'How to be Popular.'
I put together a top 10 list of how to help you. Elphie, every day...shower. Who knows maybe some of that green is gonna come off! Deodorant Elphie...nobody likes a stinky witch. I think we covered the hair, we'll get to that. Clean underclothes...that's all I'm gonna say. Look at your posture! That's no way to be popular. Bed made, room straightened - we've done that. Colors blended [or splendid?] *looks back at list*. And the most important thing to have, to make yourself popular is keep your beautiful smile!"

But would anyone care to explain please?
*feels dumb for asking*

This was asked a while back it looks like, but I didn't see anyone answer? just in case, being "on the lam" means sort of like "on the run." So it's basically a pun, since a goat is kind of like a sheep. lol it's so funny cause the guard is SO straight-faced when he says that...!
