My mum was saying she thinks Seth Green would be good as Boq too; I could see it. Also, maggie Smith is great, and I think she'd be able to pull off the devious, evilness of Morrible very well.

Now I can't recall if I've said this before, but I have a very devious and excellently wicked idea for the movie....

[spoiler alert]

We leave the trap door until after the credits.

We should all lobby for Kristen and Idina. For me, only they will do! No one will do the job as well. Anyone else will be a disappointment.

Yes. Brilliant. That was floating around somewhere here a while ago, for a bit, but it's still brilliant.

But wait, the whole trap door after the credits sounds amazing, but, what about the entire finale? It would be kind of hard to do wouldn't it. I mean, Elphaba coming out of the trap door is a really big part of the finale. I was just wondering how they would do it. Just have Glinda and the Ozians sing without hearing Elphaba?

It came to my mind lastnight while I was watching the T.V. show Reba on Lifetime, it seems to me that Lifetime would be the ones to make a movie of wicked based on the novel version. I don't know it just kinda made sence to me.

I also think that whoever makes the movie wicked (prolly universal), guessing there basing it around the musical version, they should have all the wicked fans vote for who they want to be in the movie. and they can only vote for people who have played the roles. I would vote for Dee Roscioli and Annaleigh Ashford but thats just me. I think they should let us vote!

Oh, there won't be any vote. But it will be Universal. And they've been nothing but supportive of the show. I think it will probably be good. Lifetime? I can't see them trying anything that ambitious, but I understand your point.

I bet we'll see fairly unknown people in the roles.

I came up with a few more roles:
Patrick Stewart could be Doctor Dillamond.

And if we needed someone famous, I think Hugh Jackman could do Fiyero...

I don't know if this has already been said but my gym teacher and I found a source that said they are making a movie that comes out in 2010! That's next year!

I think Adam Lambert should play fiyro. He's become really fameous now and MAN he can sing!

CAROL BURNETT as Madame Morrible. Great voice, great presence, great character. Maggie Smith would just be doing her Harry Potter character, wizard/witch, too close, too unoriginal.

Carol Burnett in Wicked, rocks!!

I agree! But I just thought of something, what about Julie Andrews as Morrible?

Ooh! I like the idea og Carol Berrnette or Angela Lansbury,I watched her as Mrs Lovett in Sweeny todd, amazing actress, i think theyd have to expand Morrible's part a little bit
and Carol would probably bring a humorous portral that would be interesting

I love Carol Kane's Morrible. She does the whole grandmotherly type hiding a dark secret very well.

Julie Andrews seems more suited to playing nice characters to me. She's very sweet and just doesn't seem to have the ability to portray the manipulative type.

Angela Lansburry would be a great choice too. She would add to Morrible's whole 'older than dirt' thing and her hidden true persona.

I love all of them as actresses. They just have their differences.

Just my two cents.

winkieprincess I have to admitt that I don't know a lot of the celebs you have mentioned. I looked up Alyson Michalka, she certainly looks the part, but I haven't seen her in anything. When I first looked at her picture, I thought it was Taylor Momsen (Jenny from Gossip Girl) and thought hmm.. not sure if she could pull off 'airy'.
Elijah Kelley I think is a bit too dark for Fiyero, I always thought of him having a milky dark skin, like Gary Dourdan, I think he'd be a perfect Fiyero.

I think the main difference is you've picked a young cast, whereas I would pick an older cast, they would have to age (if the movie was more based on the book) so I guess the younger the better.

I think Kristen Bell would make a perfect Nessa. It's those eyes, they look so serious.

Well, still, keep in mind that the movie will be based on the musical and even if people look like they could play the part, they need to have lungs like they could play the part.

Yes, sorry I didn't realise this was in the Musical forum, I was told to post here in a thread in the Wicked forum about actors for the movie. I am of the 'would like to see a movie based only on the book' camp. If I had realised it was in the Musical forum, I wouldn't have posted

Yes, thats actually the beauty of it. Everyone is predisposed to think she'll be nice, then they'll feel the same shock that Elphie does when they figure out how evil she actually is.

I can't see Julie Andrews as Morrible either. She's good at those maternal roles. I do not, I repeat do not think Hugh Jackman should be Fiyero. I will be very pissed off if he is cast as Fiyero. He is too old for that part and he is ugly. It is set the charcters' college days so the cast should be young.
Here's my new and improved Wicked cast:

Elphaba - Kat Dennings
Glinda - Aly Michalka
Nessarose- Natalie Portman
Fiyero- Jesse Metcalfe
Boq- Simon Curtis
Madame Morrible- Miranda Richardson
Wizard- Christopher Walken
Dr. Dillamond- Gary Oldman
Young Wizard- Jamie Campbell Bower
Melena (mother) - Anne Hathaway
Frex (father) - Gerard Butler
Chisery- Emile Hirsch

Hmm. I'm not sure the age thing matters in this digital age, and even less so when Act 2 rolls around. I agree with you on Natalie Portman and possibly Christopher Walken, but one of my firm convictions is that mixing things up and defying expectations makes a better product.

Hmmm. Interesting conviction. Here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1262426/ check this out! The original Broadway cast might be doing the movie! That would be awesome if that happened. You can't go wrong with the originals.

But imdb also says its 2010, which isn't very likely.

Its too early to tell yet, so all we can do is speculate. Which is fun.

Maybe, but the Twilight cast wasn't revealed until the February before it came out. It could happen. I love speculating though. It's fun! I enjoy imaging what certain scenes will look like in the movie.

I enjoy imaging what certain scenes would look like to! Allot of hardcore wicked fans are not to happy about the movie, thinking it will ruin the genius of the story, but really If its done correctly it can make it a million times better!!

Take the scene where Elphie "Defys Gravity". It can be so much more then a girl belting while attached to a crane. I'm not saying that scene isn't awesome, and some actresses (Eden Espinosa to name one) Really use their body and gestures to make the effect that much more "real". There's one video in particular i am thinking of where Eden pushes her arms down with a sort of resistance when lifting off, that makes it appear as if shes pushing on the air to lift her up.

Anyway, with swooping angles, 360 degree pans of the actors in the scene, the defying gravity effect can be made into a much more emotional experience. Those are things you cant do with live performance. But also, wouldn't want it to be overdone and look like some comic book scene. OH and plus... there wont have to be a crane behind her lol... ANYWAY just my thoughts.

Wow. That would be so cool. I love imagining scenes too. I can imagine "What Is This Feeling?" taking place a big lawn the campus they choose to film the Shiz scenes at. Glinda is sitting in one area surrounded by a large group of students while writing her letter. Elphaba is in another area across the field from her under tree, alone writing her letter. At first the camera will go back and forth between them until "For you see my roomate is..." then it pans out and you see them staring at each other. Then it zooms to each of them again. After Elphaba says "Blonde" they both stand and drop their letters and walk towards each other while starting the next part of the song. By the time the song gets to "Ye----es" they are three feet apart. They moving closer as they sing that verse. By the time the chorus pops in they are inches from each other glaring into each other's eyes. Right there, the chorus pops in with "Dear Galinda, you are just too good..." and they surround the two with the girls behind Elphaba and the guys behind Glinda for "Poor Galinda forced to reside..." For this last verse the chorus is moving around them singing their part while Elphaba and Glinda are singing their parts to each other's faces. There could be some arial shots here. For the last line, the chorus stops moving around and moves in behind Glinda. Then Elphaba shouts 'Boo!" and Glinda screams and falls backwards into Boq's arms. He will have to end up right behind her for this to work. I want her to do this to add to the Glinda/Boq ship. I think it's cute. Anyway, Glinda and Boq lock eyes for a moment and the screen goes black. End scene.

I change mind about who I want to be Fiyero. I want Adam Lambert. He's gorgeous and he was a great Fiyero on stage. I wish NBC Universal hadn't taken off all of those videos of him in Wicked. He's so awesome as Fiyero.

As to the whole "original cast" thing, the only one I'd want would ber Kristin. I've never found a Glinda I've loved more than her. Idina isn't the best Elphaba, IMHO. I'm quite aware that OBC isn't possible, though.

As for some other things, I want Bette Midler as Madame Morrible. And . . . that's really all I've gotten. Adam Lambert as Fiyero would be . . . okay, I suppose.

Alright, I beleive I've have putten up a dream cast but it's changed.
Assuming they are not using the OBC.
But I was also thinking, just becuase they don't use the OBC, doesn't mean they can't cast someone whos been in wicked.
So:
Elphaba: Nicole Parker
Glinda: Annaleigh Ashford
Fiyero: Hugh Jackmen
Morrible: Meryl Streep
Wizard: Joel Grey
Nessa: Ann Hathaway or Natalie Portman
Boq: i wouldn't care. anyone will do

1st: I think Simon Curtis would make a great Boq! He's cute, he's short, he can sing, and he has brown spiky hair. aksinhttp://www.imdb.com/media/rm2563739904/nm2448751

2nd: Hugh Jackman as Fiyero?! I've said this before and I'll say it again (I don't mean to offend you if I do): Ewwwww! I don't get what you or other people see in him! I just don't think he's attractive. In X-Men he looked like was on steroids. Also, he's too old for the part as is your suggestion for Elphaba. Elphaba and friends are in college, so the actors need to be around that age or look like they are.

BTW: I like your other choices.

If Rick Moranis were still young and acting, he could probably do it. Or, the guy who plays Jimmy Harper in Reefer Madness (I think it was Christian Campbell).
