People love Idina and Kristin so much that they'll find a way to include them. Even if it's just as extras in the Emerald City so the fangirls in the theaters can then jump up and down for a minute. Everyone who has been in the show will probably be considered before casting is opened for other people What about us fanguys? ------------------ IP: Logged |

Alright, here's my opinion. I don't think anyone under the age of 26 should be cast in the roles of Elphaba, Galinda/Glinda and Fiyero. Especially ANYONE that was in high school musical. Sorry to the fans, but it is a disgrace to all musicals. Just my opinion. Wicked is a mature show, and must have mature actors. Especially for the second act of the show. It is much easier to make an actor look young than it is to make them look older. If they use the musical version, the voice quality must be considered first. A poor or inexperienced voice could be the downfall of the movie. I also think there shouldn't be any A-list actors. Look at Phantom (movie). None of those actors were well known. You should look at the character the actor is portraying, not the actor themselves, which i believe would happen if someone like Reese witherspoon for example was cast. I understand some may feel differently about this, but again its just my opinion. ------------------ [This message has been edited by live.life.green (edited 09-22-2008).] IP: Logged |

The Musical? Mature? In the same time zone! I think you might be confusified. IP: Logged |

quote: Whoa, simmer down, its just an OPINION. its a discussion board...so lets discuss it. So yes, mature was the wrong choice of the word to describe the show, but there should definitely be mature actors in those roles, NOT teenagers. And if you think about it, I don't think Wicked is something you'd take a five year old to. When I saw it there were people of all ages there, mostly adults, not children. So in that sense, the audience is more mature. So no I am not confusified, I'm just looking at things from an adult's point of view. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I think you might have misunderstood my tone. I was not angry and I respect your opinion. I also agree with you I would not like to see Ashley Tisdale as Glinda. So why don't you simmer down. The confusified thing was a joke so don't go crazy. IP: Logged |

I agree that we shouldn't cast REALLY YOUNG actresses. We need some adults, not kids. If that what you meant by mature I back you 110%. IP: Logged |

I really hope they do come out with a movie relatively soon, so I can show my friends who've never seen the show what I'm obsessing about! I also think it would be neat if members from the OBC, (like Idina and Kristin) made cameo appearances somewhere in the movie! Need any help around here? Or are you guys settled? IP: Logged |

nope I'm settled. Sorry for anything I might have caused. Just a little misunderstanding/miscommunication. I come across a little strong sometimes, but its all passion, no aggression, I promise! I'm new, so I'll get the hang of it! I don't want to cause any problems, so again I apologize. ------------------ IP: Logged |

And I don't think Elphaba would be good with a spanish accent, and Nessa wouldn't be so great with a southern accent. Also the 'goat professors' name is Dr. Dillamond ------------------ IP: Logged |

Ok, so I don't know if this has come up yet and as obsessive as I am about Wicked, I'm not reading 42 pages of replies. So I agree with above about mature and older than 26, but not about mature audiences if that's what you getting at exactly, I'm only 15, I love it, and seen it 5 times. Saw it the first time when I was 12. If and when the make a movie version of it, I hope for it to be more like the musical because the book scared me a bit, I had to stop reading after it got... Well those who have read it know. But anyways, if Idina weren't able to play Elphie, I would pick Anne Hathaway, from what I've seen of her, see could probably perfect younger Elphaba, plus again with the mature thing, don't all teenage movies have people on their 20's playing high schoolers anyways? yea they do. I think Anne would make a good Elphie now that you mention it! I thik I would be better but you know. lol ------------------ IP: Logged |

Well, I'm guessin we have a country music fan here. I think you're right though, they would be good. The only one I don't like is Vanessa Hudgens because she is just too nice and was in HSM and got caught with all them nude pics and drugs or sumtin. That's why HSM3 is going big screen because Disney Channel can't show it because of her. ------------------ IP: Logged |

quote: Hmmmmm... I have to say that I was unsure of JT myself, but I think taht part is going to be hard to cast. Nobody else really springs to mind for me. Ponder... ponder... What about Delta Goodrem for Elphie??? Keep in mind too that since they're not expected to make the film until 2010 that Miley Cyrus will probably be the right age! IP: Logged |

Well Elphie is originally from Southern Munchkinland maybe Mileys accent will fit. ![]() IP: Logged |

Hmmmm IMDB still says 2010. I may lose interest or implode from everyone fighting over a cast that is less than inticing by 2014. IP: Logged |

I would hope that if they do make a movie that is is closer to the story in the book. Though I did like the musical it lacks some of the darker themes from the book. IP: Logged |

I was watching a video of Wicked Day and they were interviewing Winnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz and they asked a question about what they would have like to seen kept in the musical. And Stephen said that they had a part where it showed Elphaba and Fiyero after they had left Oz in the Bad Lands and Elphaba was helping all the Animals. And he said that he hoped they put it in the movie so I think they are going to make a movie of the musical version. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I was just on youtube watching a video of when Kristin co-hosted on The View back on Feb. 8 2007 and she was talking about Wicked and they asked her if they were going to make a movie version of it. And she said " They say they're going to make a movie but the better hurry up or other wise I'll be playing Moriible cause I'll be old." so maybe it will be her and Idina! IP: Logged |

one can only hope that it'll come out in 2010. honestly, i don't think that wicked fans will be able to wait much longer beyond that... (i know i couldn't! haha.) unfortunately, they will more than likely wait until sales start to decrease in wicked tickets (which seems like they never will!) before they make the movie. then that will give the show more publicity and bring its sales through the roof AGAIN. also, since it is a movie, hopefully, they will be able to encorporate the book and the musical together. after all, the musical was adapted to be appropriate for the stage... (considering they can't exactly have sex scenes on-stage. well, technically, they could... haha.) well, you you know what i mean. i believe that the movie will be a musical, but maybe they can be more in-depth in the storyline: better explore the slightly darker side of Elphie, or better explain why she is so determined to get those shoes. (haha.) as for my dream cast, that would be OBC all the way, baby! however, should the OBC be out of the question... singer/non-singer or other... Elphaba- Eden Espinosa/Jennifer Garner Glinda- Megan Hilty,Emily Rozek Fiyero- Colton Rudloff (PERIOD) Nessa- Alexa Vega,Hayden Pannettiere/Natalie Portman Mdme Morrible- Carol Shelley/Julie Andrews Wizard- David Garrison/Victor Garber Boq- Zac Efron that sure seems like a wide variety of talent, don't you think? haha. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I think they should just get the OBC back and just flim them on stage. So that way nothing will change and Defying Gravity won't be ruined. IP: Logged |

haha. i think that would just be a very long proshot... lol. that would be nice though. rather than waste all the money on sets and such, they could just use what they've already got and film it in HD!!! and then, even if they wanted, they could still add a couple of the thematic elements in as well. you just never know with this business! The discussion seems to indicate that the money is too good right now to add a film to the Broadway musical and Rent was used as a comparison for this (in an interview with the actress that plays Elphaba). The Rent movie, however, did not do so well at the movies for opening night, so I don't think it is always best to wait until attendance wanes at the musical. Additionally, although the Wizard of Oz itself was a musical, I would prefer to see the movie, if it is ever made, a non musical. I did see something a moment ago that indicates there is a version in 2010? Can this be? IP: Logged |

Along with that Portman. Im going to look up the others on Google because I havent a clue who they are but I have a feeling Ill reject them as well. This list is all wrong, my frogs.
