First off Wicked the movie sounds SO BAD. there is no way in hell that you can take a musical that good and turn it into a movie. Hairspray the movie was Eh... John Travolta should have NEVER played Edna. He was AWFUL. Amanda Bynes was Atrocious as Penny Pingleton. I have never heard someone ruin that role before her. It is supposed to be funny and she makes it dreadful. I don't know what the hell Brittany Snow was doing. Great for the part looks wise but what a horrible singer. That COOTIES SONG WTF did she do to it. ANYWAY, WICKED THE MUSICAL MOVIE ..... NOOOO first off if it is made into a movie IDINA MENZEL should play ELPHABA and Kristen Chenoweth should play Galinda. The whole Mandy Moore thing... that is just a disgrace to Steven Schwartz. the girl cant sing for her life. If anyone has heard the soundtrack... they would know the notes that need to be sung are not in her range. Then the rumor of Anne Hathaway playing Elphaba. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH that makes me laugh even harder granted she has an OK voice she definitely is not cut out for the role of Elphaba. It just is so funny how everyone that doesn't know theater gets so involved in these movie creations and it just cracks me up. People are saying Reese Witherspoon should play Galinda... now thats just sinful. Shes pretty but cant sing for her life. Drew Barrymore HAHAHAH YEA RIGHT that would be a nightmare. Rachel McAdams Although Gorgeous ... Not a singer and she is too tall.
All you theater no nothings crack me up with your damn rumors about who is playing who and who should play who.... GET A LIFE AND STOP WASTING YOUR TIME. IP: Logged |

I like the song but the problem is, everyone leaves during the credits so I doubt anyone pays any attention to it unless their already an Idina fan. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Wicked Awesome (edited 12-19-2007).] IP: Logged |

quote: Yeah, I saw it not that long ago. I have to say that's it's better than I thought it was going to be. It really depends though on what kind of movies you like. It's kind of graphic with violence and nudity. Overall though, it was pretty good. If you go to the Official Beowulf Website, it plays the song. I found that out the hard way. Let's just say that when I found the song, my friend decided to put the volume up on the computer full blast in the school library. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Personally, I think a movie version of the musical would be great, but only if they don't do it as Cats did. Filming the show would mean there wouldn't be as much reason to see it, and it would lose something of its presence on film. However, if they did a more Phantom-like version, with a completely different set design, and a whole different look from the stageshow, that could work. Having seen the work Tim Burton did on Sweeney Todd, I think he or Baz Luhrmann would make a great choice to direct. Having heard her sing in Sweeney, I think Helena-Bonham Thats my two cents in so thank you and goodnight! IP: Logged |

quote: If you like breasts and blood you're in for a treat. It ruined the story for me, and I thought it was a wonderful, albeit silly, story and I am ashamed that the movie was made in the way it was. First off, the whole entire freaking point of Beuowolf killing the sea-monster, and the Grendell's mother sea montster is that he has to show his strength -without a sword. Sheesh.

I dont think it would be that bad... the defying gravity thing... I mean.. They have VERY GOOD special effects in movies now... and I think it would be even cooler with the special effects of cameras and computers and everything. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Well now that I think about it maybe not that horrible. But defying gravity is my favorite part of the musical and it would really upset me if they didn't do a good job of it if they made a movie. I'm sure they would but I just love that flying machine. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I was just wondering if for the movie musical cast (of there ever is one) about the casting of Madam Morrible. Does her character have to be a large woman? Because watching Sweeney Todd the other day I was think about how much Helena Bonham Carter looked like Morrible. Especially her hair and dress. I think it would be very interesting to see her play the role. Maybe test her on broadway for a month or so. I didn't personally like her singing that much in Sweeney but Morrible doesn't sing too often. Any ideas? IP: Logged |

I dont think she HAS to be a large woman.. Yes it fits the part well but I wont mind if they use a slim woman either, And I dont think that madame morrible should have to sing... I mean... She only sings a little bit, and why have such talent when you only sing a lil bit? I am not sure on the casting of her though ------------------ IP: Logged |

It's just her role as Miss Lovett really reminded me of Madam Morrible (especially the hair!) I don't think she has an amazing voice, but as you said, she only has to sing a little bit. I just think because she's so dark and mysterious in real life that she might make a good role IP: Logged |

Well, here's a video this guy made for his 7 year-old niece. The way he makes Elphaba(played by his niece) defy gravity works very well. Its really cute. Just watch it to see what I mean: ------------------ [This message has been edited by FabalaFae (edited 03-17-2008).] IP: Logged |

Hello all i am new to the topic and i have seen the musical here in st louis i loved the story it was awesome but was dissapointed with the cast that was here cause i have the OBC sound track which is kinda funny cause that is the same soundtrack they were selling at the fox when popular was done it was a mess the actress was winded and you could tell she had absolutly no vocal stamina at all and to the movie i would love to see the OBC i think it would be spell binding to say the least but we cant dismiss this idea as an alt to play glinda reese witherspoon is ok but what about kiersten dunst if any of you have ever seen the movie get over it he voice is awesome and i think she could pull it off she is a bit more perky granted i loved legaly blond but still reese verses kirsten Kirsten wins hands down and morribel that is a tough one glen close maggie smith or the great bette that is a tough one i love all three IP: Logged |

I was just watching CSI: Las Vegas. They were going through a Hollywood back lot and I saw the Wicked sign on one of the studio buildings. Looks like they are already in the process of making the film version. IP: Logged |

do you understand that Wicked is currently playing in LA at the Pantages Theatre? (with Eden Espinosa and Megan Hilty!) it was probably advertisement for that show, sadly. i know because i went down to Universal Studios last year, and there were 'Wicked' signs all over the park, i was so excited...then i realised that it was more likely that it was an advertisement for the show i was about to see the next day. I think that if they ever do make a movie for wicked, it won't be for awhile, come on guys, there is still "A New Musical" accross the signs and billbaords. It's not going to be a "new movie" until they believe that they have gotten as much profit as possible from the live show. When i went there, it was crowded. it's going ot be awhile. I beleive they make movies based on musicals when the musicals have gotten most of the profit that show will make, then it has a come back. its all about $$$ IP: Logged |

Idina and Taye Elphaba anf Fiyero! They have both done it before, in the book Fiyero is black and Idina looks perfect for Elphie and they are totally in love in real life so I think they would have the charisma and chemistry. I love Idina she is amazing and play Elphie really well! As for Glinda, I just went to see Dianne Pelkington in LOndon and she was hilarious. She was really good at the stupid, ditzy thing and the emotional stuff like For Good! The only problem would be there accents as Dianne is English and Taye and Idina are American but you know there are ways and means! ![]() IP: Logged |

I think that they should cast all original members from the origanal stage performance IP: Logged |

quote: Well, I really wish that that could happen. But remember that Elphaba, G(a)linda, Fiyero, Nessarose, and Boq are supposed to be college-aged in the first act and not too much older than that in the second. However, Kristen Chenoweth, Idina Menzel, Norbert Leo Butz, Michelle Federer, and Christopher Fitzgerald are all in their mid-thirties now. That's a bit of a big age gap. On stage it didn't matter so much, because you couldn't see every minute detail on their faces, so a thirty-year-old playing a nineteen-year-old wasn't that noticeable. However, a movie camara zooms in to an actor or actress' face in some scenes, and it's way easier to tell the real age of him or her. So I doubt that's going to happen, but I wish it could. I really liked the idea of ill Cosby playing the wizard. I don't know if he can sing, but maybe he could do that talk singing thing that some of the madame morribles do. As far as Elphaba, i would prefer to have idina and Kristin, but if that does not work out, i would want other Broadway actresses to preform the role. Think about it, Broadway actors have to be able to sing, dance, and act. Now that is what I call talent! IP: Logged |

I think my dream cast would be Elphaba- Indina Menzel or I also think Vanessa Hudges would do a good job IP: Logged |

I think they should get new actresses to play Glinda and Elphaba and have more famous actors/actresses to play other part. I can't really think of any at the moment, unfortunately. It would be cool if Idina and Kristin could have minor roles in the movie. Maybe Idina could play Melena. I'm not really sure who Kristin could play, but they could figure something out. IP: Logged |

heres who i think they should cast since the OBC is gettin old *tear* Elphie: Emmy Rossum and i cant think of anyone else... TTFN!!! ------------------ IP: Logged |

quote: I'm not trying to be rude or anything, and everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but NOOOO! First of all, Emmy Rossum was great in Phantom of the Opera, but she's so...not elphaba. She doesn't seem like she would stand up for herself and be angry the way Elphaba has to. She would make an Ok Glinda, I guess. Second of all, Orlando Bloom!!! (Sorry to use excessive punctuation.)Does he sing? If he does, then I apologize, but I just can't picture that at all. And he can't really act all that well either. Ok, I'm done ranting now. I do agree with you about Joel Grey, unless he gets so old that he can't really sing and dance by the time they make the movie. IP: Logged |

quote: Only problem is that all the original cast is in their 30s/40s and Elphie, Glinda, and the rest of the characters are of college age. They tried to do the same with RENT when it was made into a film, but that didn't look too good on film. It was hard to see them as college-age students when they were in their 30's. IP: Logged |
