i dont know, i think mandy moore would be a good nessa. shes got a great voice, and she can act! i loved her in a walk to remember and i couldnt believe it was actually her. i still say go for michelle or jenna first, but many moore wouldnt be a horrible choice.

Really, i have read around 10 rewiews of Wicked in Chicago and everyone says Heidi's not that great. Ive never heard anyone say she was awesome or anything most people said she was a mediocre Nessa.

Well, I've seen her and I'm going to see her twice more this year. It's my opion of course, but I think she is a fantasic Nessa.

I don't think it's right for anyone to judge an actor or actress if they haven't seen them live.

Well here's my cast if Universal won't get the OBC

Elphaba-Jennifer Garner(is it just me or does Jennifer's voice sound like Idina's? watch one of her movies and then listen to Indina live and you'll hear it, trust me it's freaky) and Jennifer can actually sing and has done musical theater and can convincively play a sweet misfit(13 going on 30) and a kickass rebel(Electra), she's second best for elphaba(idina first of course)

Glinda-Reese Witherspoon if she had miracle singing lessons or maybe Christina Applegate

Fiyero-Ewan Mcgregor(I don't have to explain do I?)

Wizard-Richard Gere(has the animation and voice)or Cosby lol

Morrible-Glen Close(she's super good for morrible type characters)

Dr. Dillamond-John Cleese or Christopher Lloyd

Nessa-Anne Hathaway(love to see her in that role lol)

Boq-Elijah Wood(no need to explain lol)

Chisery-John Liquizamo

How about Maggie Gyllenhaal as Elphaba? I heard she sang in one of her movies. She's got the fire. OR Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Glinda: Britney Spears (ha!)
Fiyero: Ewan McGregor--- YEAHHH-- He can dance, he can sing, and he's DAMN pretty!
The Wizard: Jack Nicholson
Boq: Absolutely Elijah Wood
Madam Morrible: Bette Middler-- we've all seen what she can do as a witch in "Hocus Pocus."

-just a thought.. i think it has to be someone with a really good voice! so screw all of my other dumb ideas.

I think the best way to make a musical into a film is to use to original cast. I think they should just film the stage version as it is, like they did with Into the Woods. Then they don't have to worry about losing the integrity of the show. Atleast that's my personal opinion. I guess we'll see how the movie version of RENT turns out first...

I just read they are making a movie based on the musical and Idina Menzel is defenetly in it. Chenoweth rejected the part because of work compromises, so their first choice for Glinda is now Scarlett Ohara... she has a wonderful voice!!! they say preproduction will star untill 2007 and the movie would be release on 2008. they still dont know about the director but they are thinking of Terry Gilliam, David Lynch or Darren Aronofsky. we'll see.

Scarlett o'Hara? That's a fictional character from Gone with the Wind. Who is going to be Glinda?
There is no doubt in mind that a movie will be made. I'm happy they signed Indina, but it would be great to have the rest of the OBC. That really sucks about Kristen. You know who would make a great Glinda? I think it was mentioned before but Reece Witherspoon. I'm not sure on the singing yet, so I can't wait to see her perform in Walk the Line. She had to do all her own singing, so I reserve the right to change my answer.

I think if I could choose the cast for the movie I would definitly have Kristen and Stephanie head the cast and David Ayers as Fiyero. I don't know about anyone else but what about Bea Arthur as Morrible I think she would be perfect.

You might be right, I did come across that too, something out in the woods. But go to dailyceleb.com. I googled it, there are a ton of pics of washed up actors, and newbies, not a review really, just pics, but our Wicked is in the background. Check it out. "At the LA Premiere of Universal's "Wicked," Pantages Theater, Hollywood, CA 06-22-05"

Celine Dion as Elhpeba?!? Oh that would crush me, she has no dark side, how could she do it? What about the kick ass chick from Firefly? She's hot. Elpheba has to be sexy and have a strong sense of a shadow self.

well as far as elphaba: rent is coming out (nov.23rd ppl!) so idina will be more of a film figure than she was before.
as popular as wicked is now, though, i think they should wait quite a few more years before they try anything on film. let it travel and run on broadway for a bit. get even more of a fan base than it's already got. then ppl will be more eager to see it on film. rent's been out there for, what...ten (?) years and they're just doing a movie (which looks great: mostly obc. yay!). phantom took even longer (and they still butchered it).

isn't jesse l. martin in there too? you've got a point. i thought of that too.
but like i said: if they go for putting wicked on the big screen too soon, they'll burn it out. it won't be on demand anymore. i say they wait a while. then people will be anticipating it more. (i.e. rent and phantom)

Okay, wicked seem to be getting really, really "popular".Right?...someone in a post said that they think it would stop people from going to the broadway show...i dont think so...i mean, think about chicago...b-way...movie...still on b-way...still going good on b-way....along with several other b-way gone movie. Wicked would be a great movie....although i do think they should stick to the story of the musical....and just add some stuff from the book into the movie.i'll hush now..hehe.
My Dream Cast for the movie:
Elphaba- Idina Menzel, Kate Winslet(she can sing)

Glinda- i like the idea of hilary duff doing it....even as the older glinda...they could make her look older(movie magic) or renee zellwegar*spell check

Fiyero- Taye Diggs

Nessa- Michelle Federer

Morrible-Maggie Smith, Bette Midler, Oprah Whinfrey...think about it..it would be intersting...and unique...and i think she would fit the part

Boq-i couldn't say

The wizard- joel grey

I don't think they need bigger names--Rent is coming out as a movie soon, and they haven't "upgraded." My dream cast would be all the originals, obviously. If they make a movie at all. Which would be awesome. lol.

And please not Natalie Portman as Nessa. She doesn't look like Nessa should look to me.

To clarify: In the book, he isn't black. His skin is covered with blue diamond tattoos, which brings in a race element.

Seriously, there would be people who WOULDN'T see it simply because it had Hilary Duff--not really devoted Wicked fans, but still. Plus, she has a pop voice, and Galinda needs to be very versatile.

There's no reason why Idina shouldn't do the movie.

And I love the book, but they can't just "add in" elements of it for a movie based on the musical. The stories are too different.
