my vote is for original cast, unless they decide to do this in like 10 years... then maybe look for new talent.. when i first read the book i became very attached to elphaba (which was the whole jist of the book)and once i put the book and the music of idina and kristin and the original cast together, i dont think i could enjoy it as much if it were any other way...

ps. if it is to be a new cast it just cant be the face or the name that plays the part it has to be the voices

~I've just been chatting to a guy who apparently likes Wicked, although I didn't know he did, and he said he'd heard a pretty solid rumour that Disney are going to be making this film soon. Do Disney just own the rights? I was under the impression that the film wasn't being made yet...

Disney does not have the rights. No one would let them get their filthy hands on the rights, because Wicked would close on broadway the next day if they thought a shitty disney movie was what it was like.

Perhaps we should go back to Tom Cruise as Glinda to alleviate any fears.

Luckily, I knew the Muppets and Tom and Puff Daddy, or whoever were all in jest. I was scared that this thread has been going strong for 2 plus years amd still no real news on the show. I'm also scared how creative we all are.

I just LOVE how creative we all are. And I foresee this thread never dying. Partly because it's one of my favorites and I like to keep it alive and kicking.

Kristin Chenoweth was on "The View" today, and she talked aboutt the possibility of a Wicked movie.

She said there's talk of one, but she hopes they'll do it soon or else she'll be cast as Madame Morrible.

Claymation... there's an idea. Like Wallace and Gromit. In fact, they should make a special appearance. As Boq and Dillamond, perhaps?

Yea, it was really funny! She pulled back the very few wrinkles she had and said she hoped they'd do the movie soon!

Don't worry, I think
Muppets stands a better chance then claymation does. You're right, it's not for Wicked. Miss Piggy would pull it off much better. Even though we stopped talking about the Muppets a while ago, I guess...

So..... I want to play Nessa!

Universal holds the rights to WICKED so a film seems likely soon. As for the cast - I'd love to see Idina and Kirsten in the film if thats not possible I like the idea of Minnie Driver and Megan Mullally - both have the acting crudentials and singing voices to pull it off.

I think she meant "no they aren't" as a "Oh my gosh I cannot believe it. They can't." kind of no they aren't. I don't think she was trying to tell people that they weren't.

Yes, there is not proof as to when they're making a movie, who they're making it with, etc., but sources have told us that it would work well as a movie and that someday they will make one. Whenever that is, we'll know later.

Actually, you can go wrong with the original Broadway cast, just ask the movie studio that did the movie version of Rent. They used nearly all of the OBC & Rent tanked at the box office. Chicago used big name movie stars, made a fortune & won a bunch of awards. As I have said before, using the OBC is a nice fantasy IF the movie ever happens, but it isn't realistic. Plain & simple, they are too old.

I can't believe people are still hoping the original Cast is in the movie version. It's just makes no sence for all the reazons we have discussed over and over again.

Kristin Chenoweth briefly mentioned the "Wicked movie" on The View recently. Her comments don't really reveal much but her comments are still interesting.

You can find the videos on YouTube.

RENT may have tanked at the theater but all the RENTheads loved it includeing me and saying they are to old no they are not nine times out of ten if you ask someone who elphaba is they'll say Idina menzel the same with Glinda.Idina and cheno deserve these roles they are both beautiful talented actress's if everyone is so worked up about the age factor(they are not old) use Kristy Cates and Kendra Kessnbaum they would do the roles justice ive seen miss Cates in person and she would make Idina smile with her performance no hollywood actress should touch the roles of Elphaba and Glinda they would just fuck them up

The people obsessed with Rent are far far far outnumbered by the people who hadn't known of it beforehand. While our love for those actors make them acceptable in our eyes, they were honestly too old. They are all supposed to be about 20 ish when almost all the actors were nearing 40. They may be amazing broadway actors but hollywood needs big names. You really can't expect them to make a insanely expensive production because people who like Wicked might go see it. The movie has to appeal to as many people as possible and two 45 year old women playing highschoolers is not going to appeal to anyone.

you... ugh. don't you know that universal has somthing to do with Wicked? They were origianaly going to make it a movie. I'm gonna cry when they make a movie, it wont be the same, you cant stage door and meet cool people
The movie cast would have ta be:
1st choice orriginal cast
2nd choice: Elphaba: Idina Menzel ( <3 )
G(a)linda: Kristin Chenoweth (Megan Mualley? are you kidding me?)
Morrible: dont care, as long as she sings well, that person from Harry Potter got on my last nerve when she played morrible because she didnt sing anything.
Wizard: Joel Grey
Boq: Mabey Lucas... umm... somthing with a G, Lucas Grabiel or somthing? Im not all that sure. (NO LEO DICAPRIO! NO!)
Nessa: oh, god, I dont know... i dont know her name but whoever plays Ellie in the movie "cursed"[about a warewolf in L.A.] (she reminds me of Jenna Leigh Green)
Fiyero: i dont know
Dr. Dillimond: Matin Ball -> i dont care what you say it has to be Martin Ball! <3 <3

sorry for the random comment: I'm actually really wicked smart, i am.
