Is this new version currently in any of the shows, or is it something they are working out?

i would see it. i mean, i thought rent was going to be terrible and it really wasnt. there was some things that i diddnt like how they were left out, like "Christmas Bells", but i think a movie version would be cool. it would spread the theme of the musical, and motivate people to see the play.

and i think idina would play elphaba just like she did maureen. and if she diddn't, i would say nicole kidman also. and kate winslet i think would be good for glinda.

and just to stir some trouble, johnny depp as fiyero! lol :P

directed by tim burton, of course haha

hey, hes doing sweeney todd, why not wicked?

I wasn't the one trying to imply that Idina is old.. which she definitely isn't. I was just asking about this "new show." Wow... I'm way to gullible =/ (irrelevant)However they would need someone to play Granny if the book ever becomes a movie.

Hey everyone!

I'm a newbie teehee so i apologize in advance for any breaking of rules (although i will try to stick to them as closely as possible)
Could I make a request? Too bad, I'll ask anyway. I know we're not supposed to talk about religion, but using God's naming in vain i.e. Jesus Christ are you serious? or Oh my God is as much swearing as the "bad" swear words to me. Could we please refrain from that. Please don't bite off my head, just a request.

I have read through all 31 pages of this thread and not just skim reading, full on reading, so be proud! And as I've gone through it I've formed an opinion

I would like the OBC to be filmed doing the musical on stage, that way I can see the musical (and others like me who don't have the money to fly to the U.S and see it live.) I know that it's not as good as on stage live and it ruins the magic blah blah blah but i really want to see it! ...and not just a bootleg copy either. Plus it's better than the whole totally hollywoodizing thing.
I'm totally obsessed with the music, I've had the cd on loop for ages and so I've been introduced to Idina's (and Kristin's) amazing vocal talents and i would be KILLLED if they made a movie or recording without the OBC. Particularly since my friends have heard non-stop about Wicked and some of them are curious. I'd hate for their first introduction to be Hilary Duff playing Galinda (gag) and some random that's got as much credibility playing Elphie who happens to be my ALL TIME FAVOURITE character. But, I've realized...thanks to booklady and a number of others that the OBC in a movie would be too old *cry a waterfall* Anyways, my dream cast would be:

Elphaba: I can't imagine anyone else playing it apart from Idina, sorry!
G(a)linda: Kristin Chenoweth (if possible) but if not maybe Reese Witherspoon. The only draw back is she isn't trained in opera and wouldn't be able to belt the high notes in NOMTW, but she has the “I'm so popular” look about her.
Fiyero: Taye Diggs or Norbert Leo Butz (preferably Norbert. His voice is gorgeous!)
Nessa: Jenna Leigh Green! She would be awesomeness. Or Natalie Portman
Morrible: Maggie Smith or Bette Midler. Smith would have to serious strictness down, but Midler would have more the comedy aspect (did anyone else see Hocus Pocus? I LOVE that movie.) How about a cross between? Maggie Midler anyone?
Boq: Elijah Wood or Toby Maguire (they have the 'cute' thing going)
Wizard: Joel Grey definitely

let me know what you think!

Coolest. Newbie. Ever.

You heard the kid, let's try to refrain, guys. It's reasonable enough.

Though, IRMS, I'm sure many will forget this and/or never even read it, but if it matters to you, I'll try to cut back. We're a community here, so I see no reason in not coming to rational agreements, especially since your request is such a simple one.

Welcome to the boards, by the way.

Edited because I needed a synonym for "resonable."

Thanks, OvertheMoon
I feel welcomed! Yay! And I DON'T need the rules posted for me, to let everyone know, I know them back to front...that sounds really sad, but I've read them that many times throughout this thread, I think I'll be right.

Why does there need to be a movie? I loved the book, and I heart the musical. The movie's just going to be yet another adaptation of two different and perfectly fine stories. I guess another version of Wicked would be fine then, because they can go all out with the marketing and make comic book tie-ins, a puppet-show production, action figures and happy meal toys... and if the movie doesn't suck I would buy them.

And Fiyero should be black with blue diamond tattoos.

Um, I only read the first 9 pages and the last page so yeah...

I would really love to have a movie of Wicked because i'm cheap and that i live in Australia.

Also, as long as there's actors who can act, then I would love it regardless...

Anyways, my two cents.

What about Hilary and Haylie Duff???? doesn't sound cool. They can play Glinda and Elphie respectively.

Hilary is so perky, and Haylie more like Elphaba type, what do you all think??

How about:

Bruce Willis = Frex
Angelina Jolie = Melena
Betty White = Nanny
Judi Dench = Mother Yackle

And give them more singing time with brand-new music by Stephen Schwartz.

I sincerely hope that they do not "disney-fy" Wicked. Nothing against Disney, but in my opinion, it just doesn't fit in with the darker part of Wicked. And yes, Tom Cruise would make a great Glinda!

Compared to the book, the musical already seems Disney-fied to me. But who cares I love both.

elphaba = Idina theey will ahve to pick her no doubt, surely no other actress in hollywood could play it as well, and it also gives the chance to those who didn't get to see her in theatre to at least expereience her in wicked

Glinda = Nicole Kidman/Kate W or Reese W
Nicole because of her singing talents portrayed in moulin rouge,
Kate Winslet for her singing talents and also to add a bit of british to the film. Reese W because she just seems very glinda-like im not too sure about singing can she?

Other characters just chosen randonly
The wizard- Sir Ian McKellan or Dick Van Dyke ( very amusing choices)
Madame Morrible - julie andrews or walters( first names that popped up)
Fiyero - adam garcia (gives us something to look at)
Boq - Elijah Wood (just thought of hobbits and munchkins being small)

these were random choices and some may disagree i know, but tell me what you think of them i just love and the conspiricising and BRING ON SUMMER 08!!!!

Now that you talk about it, I would actually think that Judi Dench would make a great Mme Morrible. We've only seen her in the serious role of M, but she kind of looks like she could pull it off. She's older, she can be fun, and we've never seen her in a role like it. She's been on stage in musicals, so she can sing (though Morrible doesn't sing too much) But still, I would think that that would be good.

Sorry guys, I was really cranky when I wrote that... I guess I was thinking of how the original post on this was "Assuming Idina and Kristen AREN'T available..." So I get tired of seeing the same "They can't make it without them" line. I got about twelve hours of sleep last night and I feel much better.

Why are we reposting the same stuff? Hillary Duff has already been mentioned before. Guys, I hope your not looking to be casting directors in the near future. These choices are not options.
Did anyone say Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson would be great in the movie version, when Dream Girls was a musical on Broadway? No. Our movie Elphaba and Glinda haven't been thought of yet.

Elphaba:Oprah
Glinda:Tom Cruise
Nessa:Buffy from the vampire slayer show
Boq:Eddie Murphy
Fiyero:Rupert Grint (sp?)
Wizard:Eddie Murphy (he can't settle for just one part)
Morrible: Madonna!

We met her as she was sleeping with some other guy. Great Disney rewrite needed and fast.

BTW: No to Adam Garcia. I saw him in London as Fiyero and he was awful. Granted, just my opinion, but I was really wondering how these two ladies were falling for this clown.
