please excuse the all caps. But I am in shock. I am having trouble with this...

I always was a big fan of Chris Walken. Now, I don't think that I could ever look at him the same.

Shocker of the day.

I was wondering...

Harry Potter fans are callled Potterheads.
RENT fans are called RENTheads.
X-files fans are called X-Philes.

Do Wicked fans have a fun name?

I've never in my life been called a Potterhead, and I do believe I may have to behead anyone who tried.

Hmmm... I'd very much like a name for Wicked fans. But I don't know if I'm that creative. The best I can do is Wicked...heads?

We actually had a thread about this awhile back...I think we were called "Ozians". There was also "Shiz Kids", but I think that was retarded. Either way, only people who have seen the show would understand that.

I knew I had heard Ozians before! I was just a little chicken to say it.

Ozians as a nickname for Wizard of Oz fans has been around for awhile.

Christopher Walken had nothing to do with Natalie Wood's death. It was a tragic accident brought on by too much alcohol & choppy water. The murder rumors started because Natalie had been afraid of the water ever since she was a young girl & some people thought it odd that she was out on the boat with her husband & Christopher Walken, although she had gone out on the boat at other times with friends & family. There was no sign of foul play, but people will talk. Some of the rumors were that Natalie & Robert were fighting, but there is no conclusive evidence that they were fighting or that she was murdered.

Well, booklady, I know all of the evidence is inconclusive, but I just find it very odd that she happen to be on a boat with her husband and the man she was currently sleeping with, even though she was terrified of water and *happen* to get drunk and fall off. It all seems a little too convienient for my taste. Though, I am incredibly cynical.....

Anywa, to cause even more controversy, here's my rendition of the night in question:

Natalie Wood is having a peaceful afternoon when he husband asks her to take a boat ride with him. She agrees, happily, even though she's terrified of water, she decides to go to make of for her affair. But, then she finds Christopher Walken is accompanying them...Dun dun dunnnnnn! Both of them, so angered with her, force feed her whiskey. She then starts dancing around and sings "I Feel Pretty" off-key. They then beat her up, strategically placing the bruises in places where she would get hit by the boat and rocks. They then throw her overboard and have some brandy and cigars. The End.

Okay, now I'm a little skeptical.....there's too much convienience on both sides of the story....

The affair with Christopher Walken was never proven. Natlie & Robert had been married before & divorced after only a few years. She remarried, had a daughter & then divorced her second husband when she found he was having an affair. She remarried Robert & they had a daughter. As with most Hollywood stories, there were a lot of rumors floating around & none of them were ever proven. She had been out on the boat before & she was known as something of a drinker. I have been a huge fan of Natalie Wood, ever since I saw her in "Miracle on 34th Street" when I was a little girl. The bruises on her body were consistant with falling & she had been drinking a lot. It makes no sense that her husband & so-called lover would conspire to kill her, especially in light of the fact that she & Robert had a daughter together.

Jackie O, under the cover of night and highly disguised, was escorted by the very best of the secret service to Marilyn's home where she and and Marilyn proceeded to have a very nice evening. Jackie confronted her on her affair with Jackie's husband. Marilyn apologized for whatever pain she caused. They agree to let by-gones be by-gones as the great Ladies of state often do. While saying her good nights, Jackie O brought out a very tiny, very sharp needle and pricks Marilyn, injecting her with a type of poison that leaves no indication. She force feeds Marilyn her sleeping pills and helps the poor dear to bed. She then leaves and returns home to her husband and family. Marilyn, tragically, never awoke from her beauty sleep, and the world never fully revived from the loss.

I really don't like the idea of Wicked fans being called Ozians for a number of reasons. People unfamiliar with Wicked and such won't know what that means. Or if they recognize it they will think that we are fans of Wizard of Oz.

I wish we could have a name that was very identifiable and specific to Wicked. I don't like Wickedheads though.

I totally agree. We're creative enough as it is to come up with something original. I mean, Potterheads/Potheads already ripped off RENTheads.

It might be cool if it's something that has to do with green skin. I dunno, though because it may seem like we are claiming to be UFO abductees or something like that.

I was & am a fan of the WOZ, the original books by L Frank Baum, the MGM movie & the not as good (IMO) movie Return to Oz, long before I found Wicked back in 1995 or 1996. I have considered myself an Ozian for a long time.

I was at Universal Studios in California recently and they had a display of Wicked Memorablilia - including props from the show (broomstick, newborn Elphaba, etc) but there was no info on whether they were turning this into a film...I have heard the rumours though and think that Reese Witherspoon would have to be cast as Glinda - she would be perfect, especially after she proved she can sing in Walk The Line.

PLEASE tell me they're not considering Renee Zelwiger - lol.

Assuming Idina & Kristen are not eligible (Hollywood often requires bigger names)... who's your 'dream cast'? Mine:

ELPHABA - Charlize Theron, Minnie Driver
GLINDA - Megan Mullaly (Karen 'Will & Grace')
WIZARD - Joel Grey, Anthony Hopkins
MORRIBLE - Bette Midler
FIYERO - Hugh Jackman, Rob Thomas
NESSA - Natalie Portman
BOQ - Leonardo DiCapprio

I like Wickidians. I think it's "definishly" catchy. I was also thinking Wickedens. Yeah, the media will definitely come up with something...only I hope it's not Wickedheads.

The movie wasn't as good as I had thought it would be. It was great, provided you had read the book beforehand. But alone, it's lacking. Generally, though, I say the same about most movies made after books that I love.

Well, that's absolutely true. I mean, look at The Devil Wears Prada or almost any Harry Potter film. It's very tricky business turning a book into a film, but Memoirs did an alright job. I was just disappointed that Sayuri's fame lasted about 15 mintues, even though she was supposed to be one of the premiere Geisha of Gion. Well, anyway, I don't ant to get into that.......

As a whole, they did well keeping with the book. It just seemed like the whole thing was too fast to me. The pace was horrid, and I really thought I wouldn't have a clue what was going on had I not already been in love with the book for so long. Harry Potter, don't get me started. I haven't yet seen The Devil Wears Prada, but I've heard great things. I thought the book was horrid, so I'll praise the higher powers if they changed that.
