Wow, great idea! Start off your membership here by telling one of the older members to get a life! That'll sure get you popular quickly.

Maybe you could think before you type, too. Try some punctuation other than the six exclamation points after the last word.

Thank you OTM... I couldn't get on over the weekend so I really appreciated that you defended me when I was gone. As for the jerk who told me to get a life, I have one thing to say... That was not very nice at all, and quite upsetting!

Aww, well, I'm very sorry to say that I am already married to Rachel McAdams, and Alyssa Milano is next in line, but after that I'm all yours!

I love getting proposed to. Do I get a ring pop? Because, the first time I was proposed to, (in about... fourth grade?) I got a ring pop. Yum.

No problem, MTO, we have to fight for our right to party- wait no... something like that.

You can have all the ring pops in the world!

Haha. I think I can deal with being after Rachel McAdams and Alyssa Milano. Besides, I have to get out of my relationship with Sarah Shahi first.

No, I'm dying for it to come out on DVD already so I have a chance of watching it. That and The Tollbooth. Darn limited releases. *kicks sand* (sand? Where did I get that? I'm on a couch...)

Anyway, my theater insists on charging $9.75 for stuff like Nacho Libre and Stick It. God forbid any Americans should actually think while watching a movie!

Have you seen it? Was it good? Can I live vicariously through your movie watching?!one!1

I haven't seen it yet. I too am waiting for the release on July 27th. I have it on my netflix account waiting to be delivered. Netflix doesn't have The Tollbooth or that other one she did called...Just a Kiss? is that the name of it? I can't remember...
There's another one called Water that came out in 04 and I have been looking for it. The way that it's summarized on IMDB it sounds like IM actually stars in it.

I actually liked stick it *ducks as eggs are flung in my direction*. haha. It was really funny. But Nacho Libre? Are you kidding me? How on earth does a movie like this get funding? Ever since Freddy Got Fingered I feel like cinema has really gone down the drain. I think people actually lose brain cells watching that crap.

Second, I agree with you. I really think that the movie would be lacking if the music were not included.

I would like to see a movie that combines both the musical and the book. I think there are great parts in the musical that would make the movie more accessible to an audience. But I also think that the movie would be so much better if it included more of the complexities in the book. This way it wouldn't just be a carbon copy of the musical.

Someone said this to me the other day and I almost lashed out in response. They suggested that this movie be done as a CG movie like Shrek. That way they could still use the voices of the original cast.

I am horrified at the thought of this.

Any thoughts?

i think the musical/book version would be awesome! that would probably be best considering the book and the musical were both based off the wizard of oz, which was a musical and a book as well. as for the CG version i would have to put in a definate NO for that one. it would be horrible!

Stick It is a chick-flick movie about a bad girl who is forced by a judge to go back to gymnastics or face jail time. yeah it sounds cheesy and I'll admit the story line is cheesy but the dialogue in this movie was very funny! the young adult in this movie were fantastic! Especially Missy Peregrym. I'm watching out for her. She's a great comedic actress, very natural comedic timing and execution.

And normally I don't find these sorts of movies all that entertaining.

I can't wait to teach myself the songs...

But first, I must teach myself how to play the piano.

Yeah that's the name. I really want to see Water; the problem is, Idina tends to lean more towards the independant films, which are then released in limited theatres or are just lost into oblivion, even though they could be fantastic films.

*throws eggs* Well, are you/ were you ever a gymnast? I heard it was funnier if you actually do gymnastics.

I have the same brain cell theory! It also applies to anything on MTV or reality tv in general.

I love the actor who does primarily independent. But I don't think that Idina looks for indy films primarily, I think that she just hasn't gotten the big time roles yet. (I personally would rather it stay that way because I love indy films and I, selfishly, don't want her to become too mainstream).

I was never a gymnast, thank Oz. But I am a division I athlete so I kinda know what a top athlete goes through in training, in competition, dealing with other athletes, and basically all of the drama that comes along with that. Also the dynamic between coach and athlete. That relationship was really just spot on in this movie. I guess being an athlete helps to appreciate this movie.

I'm watching Napoleon Dynamite right now, so if I make any typos it's because I'm losing brain cells...

Okay, I've been gone for the weekend.... but here are my thoughts.

If they use computer animation for the movie I will also choke and die.

I love the combo book/musical idea. There has to be a good way to pull the amazing singing and music together with the book storyline. The book also follows the story of the Wizard of Oz better than the musical does. Besides, it's better that the movie take the best of both rather than butcher one or the other.

Eer, I don't know still about this, book/movie. I mean I'd have to think about it and right now it's 7:30 in the morning - someone remind why I am up?!

Hm, I still think it would be really cool to have it completely kept to the book...someone mentioned in one of the threads, do you hear voices of the characters when you read? I see pictures and really good images. So I can imagine the night of Elphaba's birth really well; all the rain and the Time Clock Dragon and the baby biting the finger off...

I'm still a book lover.

It's so weird that with this book, even though I had seen all the Idina and Kristin musical stuff first, it didn't effect how I read the book in the least. It's not their voices I hear or them I see in my head, which is a real break through for me because with all the Harry Potter books, even though I’d read them years before, the movies still bust into my mind while I’m reading them. I really hate that! Actually there is a little Kristin in my Galinda/Glinda. OH, I had to tell you guys, I was watching ‘The Wizard of OZ' the other day with my little cousin (4yrs), (whose fav character is the Wicked Witch by the way, hasn’t even heard of Wicked so I think she’s just a little warped… I’m so proud of her!) Anyway when Glinda first flew in I fully said to her ‘oh look sweetie there’s Galinda’ and then thought ‘OH MY GOD! THAT JUST TOOK IT TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL, NO MORE WICKED FOR ME!’

I sugguest a purchase is in order. You can get it anywhere, but the special edition version that came out last year is the best. It has a certain Green witch on the cover. It has a lot of special features. There is also another cover with Dorothy on it, but I'm not sure if it's different or not. Go with the Witch one. Worth the price.

...I want to say somthing on the orignal topic to say that for G(a)linda I would Cast either Kristen or if they needed some bigger name, Reese Whitherspoon. and if there was some questioning as to if she can sing? She can sing pretty well. If you need proof, rent Walk The Line.

Though I'm thoroughly bored with this discussion I do have to say... I agree with ICBH. I mean, country is miles and miles from broadway. I've been studying voice for a very long time, but I don't think I'd ever be able to cut it for broadway. Some poeple just aren't cut out for that. And really... I don't think Reese sounded that great in Walk the Line... It was more of a speaking sing-song than actually singing. It sounded like she just spoke the words on the right pitch... she didn't really sing.

While I do agree w/ you to some point, she can still pay a lot of money to a really good coach to get her voice right.

Or maybe they could pull a Natalie Wood and get someone to voice-over the part.

I can see that happening. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm a big Reese fan. I think she's fabulous. I think she'd have the perfect look and persona/attitude for the part. Just not the broadway voice.

Now, if it the movie were based off the book... well that's for another board.

Who is this Natalie Wood? I looked her up on IMDB and she died in 1981, lol. (I'm not laughing because she died, but just because I had expected to see a young, alive person).

Natalie Wood, Robert Wagner & Christopher Walken were out on the Wagner's boat. There was a lot of drinking going on & Natalie fell overboard. Her death was declared an accidental drowning & no charges were ever filed.

Yeah, but I always believed they killed her. It was just too suspicous, like the Jonbenet Ramsey case. I mean, she was deathly afraid of water and she was having an affair with Walken.

And he was so creepy in Batman Returns (great movie). I wouldn't put it past him...
