Yes, I think as long as Fyero is handsome and can sing and act well I'd be happy. And don't you think he needs the blue diamonds? I do.

Rent didn't hit the big box office numbers because the plot line wasn't appealing to standard movie audiences. Chicago was. I do believe a Wicked movie modeled after the musical will bring in huge numbers that producers crave. We just have to have patience.

Maybe it was a typo, or maybe she assumed you were female because of the asterisks in the name. Girls tend to do that more than boys. I was just going through my DVD's and found the 1995 stage version of Victor Victoria, I'd love for them to do that with the OBC of Wicked. Has anyone seen the VV version. It's the stage play, there was an audience there but it was properly filmed so you can hear dialouge and see faces..oh and it's you know legal!

Universal IS making the musical with the Original cast

Also remember Wicked has iys own following not unlike Rent, Chorus Line, Evita and others. Hollywood I would hope will not change the formula just to hook up big names. I was on the Universal lot last week and there are billboards all over the lot, and they have a writters bungalow with a big Wicked billboard right on it. I know Idina has just signed with the London cast, however that could be just to get the show off and running there.

Interesting because I have friends that work in the movie business & they have heard nothing about this. Amazing how something like this can be kept a secret.

It really wouldn't surprise me info we miss out on down here in OZ, ahh well i'm sure if anything is going on we'll here about it. It's not like they like keeping movies secret, it's not very good publicity. Keep me posted guys!

Just curious, has anyone been to see one of Idinas concerts, her singing her own music?

What sort of music does she sing? I'd like to hear it.

Anyway, if there IS a movie, maybe it's just getting going and they haven't put much into the publicity yet. I mean, they should've, and I doubt they have a movie quite yet, but this is just a "what if." Anyway, I worked for Disney and still heard very little about some of their upcoming movies, even the ones that are closer to coming out.

But like I said before (Or did I? I don't remember.), I'm scared.... Hollywood changes movies - a lot. Look at Rent. I would hate any changes if they chose the musical version of Wicked, I like it as is.

It's good mostly girl accustic, i'm really bad at describing music, she's got two cds out, another in the works apparently. There "Here" and "still i can't be still" thats the latest one, but I like 'Here'.
Oh hey yesterday I got the OBC recording of RENT. Compleatly brilliant!

Actually, 'Still I Can't Be Still' was her first solo CD. It's pretty new-age pop stuff. Really good. 'Here' came out a few years ago, which is the mostly acoustic cd. I prefer it to the other, but unfortunately it only has six songs.

Yeah, I got the OBC of Rent recently, but I'm still getting used to the original Mimi's voice...

I thought of another Broadway-gone-Hollywood show, Little Shop of Horrors. Granted it was a movie, than a musical, then a movie musical, but still. And that one changed a LOT over time.

Yeah, Daphne Rubin-Vega is an acquired taste, like a fine Barolo, but she is all right. I prefer Rosario Dawson as a whole above her, though. I'm glad SHE'S immortalized as Mimi!

I know whats up with that, I wouldn't even call it a CD, i'd say it was an EP but you can't charge 20-30 bucks for an EP. I actually havn't heard alot from 'still I can't be still' it's on order, have to get it from the states.

"Jessica Simpson? You must not have much respect for the role of Glinda. There is no way she could pull that off vocally."

Excuse me, but did you happen to see that my username is Galinda Upland. You obviously don't know me becuase I cherish the role of Galinda/Glinda. She is THE best character aside from Elphaba. And, as I've said before, I AM Glinda, minus the blonde hair. I played her in a small local theater group when we did a version of Wicked. And Jessica Simpson could totally pull off playing her as well. She has the looks, personality, and talent. Belive me, she is ten times better than the Glinda I saw on tour.

No she couldn't. I'm sorry, but that white trash-Nick Lachey hurting-idiotic-filthy bitch can't do justice to Galinda. Academy-Award winning Reese Witherspoon, on the other hand, would be PERFECT!

Well that's your opinion. But I must say I do agree with you on Reese Witherspoon. She might make a good Glinda. But I'd rather see Kristen Chenoweth than anyone, if that's possible by time they make the movie.

I'm not to sure about Jessica Simpson doing Glinda either. Its not that she might not have the vocals(though I doubt she could pull off Popular) its just that I can't see HER playing Glinda... I don't know why? Kristin should do it.

I don't think Jessica Simpson could pull it off, either. She just wouldn't come across right as Galinda/Glinda. If we can't have the OBC I'm putting in my vote for Reese Witherspoon.

I still think Patrick Wilson would be a good Fiyero. He may not be as famous of a name but I think he's got the looks AND vocals. Gerald Butler could do something too, I'm not sure what though.

as for the whole Jessica Simpson thing goes, i think that is an AWLFUL idea! and i agree that she would have many difficulties pulling off popular. i don't even want to imagine what the rest of it would be like! i'm also not to sure about Reese Witherspoon, i mean i know she sang in Walk The Line, but that was totally different from Galinda/Glinda, i'm just not sure she could pull it off.

I agree(once again). I mean, it has to be pretty hard to go from a crazy singing drug-addicts wife to clueless, loveable wonderful Glinda. I like Reese Witherspoon, just not as Glinda, stick with someone that has done the part is my idea, however crazy it may be?

I completely agree as well. while I like both Jessica Simpson and Reese Witherspoon for their current bodies of work, I just don't have confidence in their potential to play the role of Glinda, especially Jessica Simpson (Dukes of Hazzard anyone?)

Being a film student who is interested in casting I am extremely picky with actors and actresses. I don't see why most of the OBC couldn't play these roles on screen. Yes, they will be older than the age of the characters they are supposed to be playing but there are other musical -> movie transitions that have been successful in doing this, i.e. RENT. Those characters were supposed to be young 20s, like Elphie and Glinda. Granted, two of the OBC did not partake in this film because of age and image issues. I think the casting team did an excellent job finding replacements (who I thought had better singing voices, at least as translated on screen).

Being obsessed with HRH Idina Menzel, I would be heartbroken if someone were to replace her.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Also, I'm sorry if I'm repeating anything which has already been said.

We would never have had a Glinda after Kristen Whatsherface if that was the way people thought.

If all we could do is stick with someone who as already played the part then we would never have a second actress. It would always be the original because she did it first.

It's true that you'll need more than one actress in the lifetime of a show, but to pick someone who will be forever seen and remembered on the big screen, it would be wonderful to have someone who actually played her before, especially Kristen. She's the original, and parts of the songs were written for her. (And, Twyzzlyr, that's Chenowith. ) Nothing would be better than the OBC. If we suggest other parts, it's for the "what if we can't have the OBC" factor.

The book is kind of creeping me out in places. I brought it in sydney forever ago I was about 11 or 12 and it creeped the hell out of me and I stopped reading it. I was recently going through my books and found it, I remembered putting it down because of some creepy but couldn't remember what exactly, so I started reading it again and I was like 'yeah ok there it is!' I like it though, alot different to the musical, kind of glad they left the whole getting raped by elves out of the stage show!
