ok. first off, i only read through one page (( the first one )) so idk if your comments have said anything like mine or not. but my perfect cast for wicked would be the following:

elphaba: idina menzel
galinda/glinda: kristen chenoweth
fiyero: Norbert Leo Butz
nessarose: Jenna Leigh Green
wizard: joel grey

yah i know thats not all of the cast lol sorry. and i know thats basicly all of the original broadway cast. and thats how i like it. and one of the comments i saw said that they liked hilary swank, reese witherspoon, and all these other actresses and actors to play roles. guys-THEY HAVE TO HAVE A SUPER GOOD VOICE. just because theyre famous actors doesnt mean they're good singers or right for the part. i mean come on, some of those suggestions were halariously outrageous! omg. i would definatey stick to the original cast.

on a lighter note, havent they already started filming for Wicked the Musical Movie? I thpught they have. thats what my mom said. well anywho, keep me updated!

sorry one more thing, i think hilary duff and all of those other people would suck as part of the casting role for this movie. i think we should have some real broadway people in the cast. (( i.e. my last post lol )) well anyway sorry if I'm coming off rude. I just go strongly with my opinion and think some of these "suggestions" are outrageous. sry.

I think if they did the MUSICAL as a movie they would have to use the *sniff* Original Broadway Cast <3...but I havent seen any of the others so...yeah...I think that's the only way it would work

"Wicked, the Movie Musical" is still just rumor & wishful thinking at this point in time. Personally, I hope it stays that way.

A dream cast. i always cast a book in my imagination when I read. I always pictured Elphaba played by Claudia Black; an engaging actress from the Stargate TV series. Something about her voice (and look). "I'll get you my pretty..." would sound right coming out of her...

I only read a few pages So I don not know if a Kristen Bell was mentioned for Glinda but she is my dream choice because in the musical they meet as teenagers and Kristen can play a teenager (veronica Mars) but is older and very pretty and would do well in a role that would require her to age a bit (and if you've seen here in reefer madness yes she can sing)...I'd love to see Robert Duvall or Tim Curry or Jerry Orbach (I wish he wasn't dead) as the Wizard and Megan Mullaly as Madame Morrible. Taye Diggs (as said earlier) is an inspired choice for Fiyero, but it could be Hugh Jackman, or Jude Law...I'd say Nicholas Brendon might make a good Boq, or Elijah wood...Micha Barton (is that right? spelling wise I mean) would be a good Nessa or Piper Perabo (I Know that's the wrong spelling and I will not look up the correct one...right this moment)

I just hope if they do decide to make this film I'm in the biz by then and I can be on production or be the director's go-fer (I'd love that so much).

You know what? Tim Curry would be sexy as anyone in it and I'd see it just for him. Perhaps he should be Elphaba! That would rock my socks with chopsticks. Okay maybe not Elphaba... but Tim Curry is a sexy sexy man.

Did you mean to say sexy or scary?
I think from a scary point of view, he would make a good Wizard, He plays creep/bad guy roles very well.

Assuming Idina & Kristen are not eligible (Hollywood often requires bigger names)... who's your 'dream cast'? Mine:

ELPHABA - Charlize Theron, Minnie Driver
GLINDA - Megan Mullaly (Karen 'Will & Grace')
WIZARD - Joel Grey, Anthony Hopkins
MORRIBLE - Bette Midler
FIYERO - Hugh Jackman, Rob Thomas
NESSA - Natalie Portman
BOQ - Leonardo DiCapprio

I can't speak for everyone, but I for one am getting pretty sick and tired of reading a "new" post regarding a Wicked movie. There hasn't been any concrete evidence stating whether or not a movie will be made or if it will be on the book or musical.
2008 is way too fast. Universal Studios, who own the rights, will be busy with Wicked in Japan, the sit down cast in LA, and God knows where else. Next time, can you list a source or at least make it sound a bit more realistic?

Have you guys ever noticed that every person that comes on here and claims there is going to be a movie for sure and lists some obscure date to accompany it... They only ever make those one or two posts, and then they mysteriously disappear? I think it's always the same person who is just trying to get a rise out of us because they think we'll start acting like animals getting all excited about it.

It doesn't work.

Nicole Kidman as Madame Morrible? I can see it now. *grins* I was totally laughing. I just have this picture of long blond curly hair falling onto one of those Morrible dresses. (The Morrible dresses, by the way, are totally completely awesome.) She's a bit young, don't you think?

Ha...Morrible dresses. Nicole Kidman in Morrible dresses. That is totally crazy. Completely bizarre. Wrong on so many levels. You've made my day. *grins*

oh wow someone honestly wants anthony hopkins to play the wizard...eww...no thanks...and personally if they can't find someone better than minnie driver to play Elphaba thats just pathetic...i look at her and see that whiney girl she played in Phantom of the Opera...Idina is the obvious choice...but Shoshana is good from what I have heard...I havent heard Eden sing yet but I assume she is good.

ok guys...i know i just posted about the cast...but honestly...i kinda think the appeal of wicked lays on broadway...it was ment to be a broadway show and it has been a sucessful one at that...i would like to see it become a movie...perhaps after it ends its broadway run....but i know some people aren't going to agree. but honestly...heres some things to note...correct me if i am wrong...the role of Glinda is a soprano...i honestly dont think reese witherspoon as some are suggesting is a soprano. And hilary swank as Elphaba! NO NO NO...she is a good actress...but again...but it seems to me that in order to be cast as Elphie you would need a 3rd lung to hold some of those notes...so you know...like i said lets hold off on the film if there is even going to be one.

I would hate to see a movie. I was in a store the other day and heard a dance remix of "Take Me or Leave Me" from Rent. It upset me so bad because not only did it become something it was never meant to be, but people were making fun of a great song because they don't understand things. Leave Broadway alone and let it be the wonderful thing that it is.

Ok, so I'm new to the site but hey, I love the Musical and saw it in Chicago with Ana as Elphaba.

Here are my thoughts on the "movie version." First off, you have to try and get the original broadway cast if at all possible. Exactly like they did for RENT and only had 2 who weren't in the original broadway show. I believer they're tied into a movie if one comes into design.

If not, here's who you try and get to fit the roles:

Elphaba - Ana Gasteyer
Glinda - Reese Witherspoon/Kate Reinders
Fiyero - Taye Diggs/Hugh Jackman
Nessa - Michelle Federer/Heidi Kettenring (Chicago cast)
Morrible - Bernadette Peters/Bette Midler
Wizard - Mandy Patinkin

With these people in as "2nd string" to the original cast, you have your mesh of Hollywood names and Broadway names. Patinkin is on a TV Series, Gasteyer has the SNL name, Witherspoon has Walk the Line fame, Jackman with X-Men among Broadway shows, same with Diggs, Midler and Peters.

I would love to see a movie done but only, ONLY if it stays true to the musical. Yes, the book is out there but the only reason a movie would be made is because of the musical. So keep true to the musical version.

Okay, I've found out what's going to happen in the REAL movie.

It will be directed by Tim Burton, and it hardly seems necessary to say that Elphaba will therefore be played by Johnny Depp. Glinda? Helena Bonham Carter. Burton's girlfriend, I've heard. Stupid brunette. *grins* Boq will be played by Freddie Highmore - Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Burton seems to be abandoming his beloved special effects on that one.

*runs away giggling*
