I really hope the movie is made and that who ever makes it is true to the musical/book.....lol.......lata....tell if any other news comes up!!!!!

yeah, just curious, no offense; what's with your name? why is it all capitalized and uncapitalized and such? that is kind of annoying. and watch your spelling. that is somewhat annoying also. but no offense because my punctuation is crap so i don't really have any room to talk.

Yeah, um, heard of a hypocrite? That would be you in this post.

And why so suddenly, incredibly rude? Even I'm not that rude, that bluntly, that fast (okay...most of the time I'm not). I've really been trying to greet new members with a warm "welcome to the boards" and then a nice reminder about chatspeak and spelling; most people aren't used to such strict rules on a message board. If you think that being mean is going to make you more popular or make us think you're "cool," it's certainly not working for me. Be respectful and gentle. And refrain from the hypocrisy if at all possible.

Unless, of course, you're me and you're having a freak-out moment about people constantly spelling Liir's name "Lirr" (ask Yero my Hero... ). Then it's okay to be rude. But only if it's about consistent misspelling of a main character's name and you're REALLY ticked about it.

Edit: Shiznat! I misspelled "misspelling again." Oh well. At least I caught it before Yero my Hero saw the thread...

Amazing if you value a Roxie who can't dance, but who pouts well.

I don't think anyone believes she or alanis could play any part in a Wicked movie, other than concession stand attendant, usher, ticket taker...

I've searched high and low on the net to find any proof that is even remotely substanciated of a Wicked movie. I've been looking for nearly a year since i saw it in toronto opening week. Though I wish it were true it appears that it may take Lurline's good grace to put that horse of a different colour in motion.

I'm fairly sure they were thinking of making a Wicked movie before the play began. Then the musical opened instead, and I haven't heard any news of musical or non-musical film adaptions since.

You obvioulsy aren't interestes in who has the best acting or singing ability.
Hillary Duff? Brandy for the older audience?
It's your opinion, but I think you are giving those performers a lot of credit. I don't think they could pull it off.

Um, assuming, as it is in the musical, that Frex and Melena are both Nessa's parents, how could two white people have a black daughter? Really, I'm not being racist, but I don't think it is genetically possible. (Don't even try to bring up the fact that two white people had a green daughter. Really, don't.)

You make me sick. Really. I don't care about appealing to a "younger audience." This is what kills the spirit of Wicked.

Lindsey Lohan has an IQ of six. As Elphaba? You should be ashamed.

I have a feeling that Fiyero2be is the exact audience that those movies are targeted to... The movies such as... Mean Girls, A Cinderella Story... (help me out here guys, I'm at a loss for crappy movies with teeny-bopper-wannabe pop/movie stars).

I feel rather sick all of a sudden.

Since there is no concrete evidence of a movie even being in the works, I think casting it is a bit premature.

I heard there was a bootleg copy of a 2004 Wicked OBC camcorder recording.
Is it true, and/or does anyone know where to get a copy of it?

Okay, this is for people here in general:

Please, for the sake of everyone's patience, stop asking for illegal copies of Wicked.

People have been sued, and even arrested, for doing that, and it's fairly likely Maguire's lawyers will see this forum at some point. Wicked probably has lawyers too, and trust me, they can request that this board goes down, and even launch investigations. It's happened to websites in the past that have simply expressed that they like the said musical/movie/tv show/book, so imagine what could happen if there was actually something illegal being spoken about.

So instead of getting everyone in trouble and perhaps even risking being sued yourself, why not do what everyone else here is doing, and wait until you get a chance to see the real, legal version?

Azaelia is correct. We have asked repeatedly that members NOT post about selling bootleg video, dvds, etc & about asking how to acquire them. The publishing company provides this board, free of charge & I think we owe them a big thank you. I would hate for the boards to be closed down due illegal activities such as the buying & selling of bootleg video.

I personally think Wicked has a certain appeal to viewers... You'd be hard pressed to find somewhere who hadn't at least heard of Wicked. POTO got bad reviews but so many people went to see it, bought it, and loved it. Rent appealed to such a small ammount of people, it's no wonder so few people got into it. Wicked is different though, it is mysterious, romantic, and has so many different sides to it that there is at least something for everyone. Chronicles of Narnia for example. No one had heard of those actors and actresses, yet it was very well done and everyone liked it. I also beleive theres so much love for the show Wicked that no matter how it turns out people will love it. I didn't think POTO did an especially good job ofdoing the show justice, but i know a lot of people who saw it multiples times and then went out and bought it. We shouldn't worry about the appeal of the show but moreso about how tastefully it will be done. For example, if it were done about the movie, it could be made very violently, and extremely dirty. It is very sexually and has a lot of "unjustified" killing. However, they could make very tasteful romantic love scenes, and with enough description of backround and feelings, the killing could be done well also, without out being offensive. Also if it were musical, something should be done on stage, and stage only and they would have to make sure the transition from stage to big screen is functional, and not awkward. Either way I hope they do a movie. It would make my day... I take that back... Year!

Do you mean Sean Astin? Or the guy who is on Lost, Dominic Monaghan?

edit: I think you mean Dominic, he is thin and short(not as short as a Hobbit). He would be a good munchkin.

I actually think shim meant Billy Boyd (Pippin). There is a part in The Return of the King when Pippin submits himself to Lord Denethor, and Pippin sings for him. He does have a nice voice, watching that part of the movie and hearing him sing that song gives me chills.

I didn't think your post came across as mean either...I was surprised by MTO's repeated apologies. The "are we really that mean" had to do with whether shim actually had to say sorry that many times or was afraid we would bite shim's head off.
